You’d think an option would be the minimum boro would want in the deal.
Currently he’s **** so his value must be at a low, if he goes to Boro were he wants to be and rips it up in theory we’d want more for him on the summer than now……or have I got that wrong
And if he’s **** there
We’re stuck with the ****

I'm not saying he should be no1.....I'm saying that a club in our financial position wouldn't typically spend nearly 1 mil on a keeper, make him (reportedly) top 3 or 4 highest player if he's not intended to be our number 1 or at the v least challenging for the number 1 spot, ultimately the GK recruitment in the summer was just mental.

Pretty clear that Racioppi hasn't lived up to expectations, and I'm sure he was intended to challenge, so that in itself seems to have been a **** up because he's not had a look in despite long term injury to Rushworth.

I just feel Racioppi has been built up by some as a 'champions league 'keeper,' which in literal terms he may have been - same as Morton was a champions League midfielder in literal terms - but in reality was still only a number 2 in a league akin to the championship. Hence he was 800k signing for us not 8 million signing for Man U.

Club could do nowt about TLT and Cartwright summer loans falling through due to injury though, and I seem to recall Walter in summer saying he wanted 3 first team 'keeper options - as some managers do, some don't.

Selles seems to be more about relatively small squads, and has more of a rep for trusting youth, so he's probably happy with 2 keepers competing and a recall clause on TLT or Cartwright if one of those goes out on loan.

The fact we ended up with 5 keepers in the squad for the first half of this season was simply due to injuries scuppering loans for the younger lads as opposed to by design, which was the basis of my convo with Tony.

And I'm sure that will be sorted by the end of Jan.

Hard to know whether he's lived up to expectations for me as it comes down to manager's selection, he dropped an absolute clanger against Weds in the cup and we've not seen him since, last season by the end of the year Rosey didn't even have Pandur in the squad whilst continuing with the hapless Allsopp, lately who knows what pressure was put on by the club to start with Rushworth in an effort to keep him? Actually think we'd have been better off trying to keep hold of Ingram, not a great keeper but cheap, reliable and almost the perfect 2nd choice keeper for a club like ours. As for now, if we can recoup his fee then let him go and put faith in TLT as 2nd choice

Personally I get the feeling they just saw his performance vs man city and signed him on the basis of that, and the fact the price was right.

We've clearly made a decision on his long term future beyond this season and it's not all down to having Rushworth, otherwise we'd be keeping him on the books for next season or trying to keep him as no2 in the here and now.
