I don't like this Rushworth news. It's obvious he was our number 1 and it should be obvious why. Pandur is a good shot-stopper as we've done to death plenty of times but there is more to the position. We can't be getting penned into our own box at goal kicks because our goalkeeper can't make passes longer than a few yards. Whether people have noticed it or not, that is what has happened with Pandur. Three examples are the Leeds and Boro games and the Portsmouth home draw. In all three of those games there were long spells where we simply couldn't get out of our box and every goal kick became a scary prospect. The goalkeeper simply has to be able to make mid-range passes to the wings in the modern game.

It's now another position that looks a mess. We've got a keeper who is popular but no City manager has ever wanted and lacks a crucial skill and a keeper who we've been trying to bin off and presumably also lacks that same skill otherwise he'd have had a chance by now.

Curious to know why Brighton have recalled him. Maybe because our style is play isn't as closely aligned to theirs as Walters was?

Oh well that must be fact then....!

Exactly, pandur is nowhere near as bad with his feet as people make out, yes some may be better but that doesn't make him poor. His technical ability as an actual GK is better then rushworth and so is his command of his area. He's our GK and has the potential to be for years to come, he is working on his distribution and that will continue to improve along with the other aspects of his game that are already at a top half championship level. Why some where so eager to see him replaced is a strange one considering he's the reason we aren't cut away at the bottom.

His distribution hasn't cost us points this season ( at a push you could argue Leeds but that's clutching at straws with what else went on during the game ) but his GK ability has certainly gained us points this season and I'm sure will again before the season finishes..... I know which id rather have

Pandur’s probably one of the best keepers we’ve had in years in terms of shot-stopping and commanding his box.

It can’t be stated enough how valuable a vocal keeper who is confident claiming balls in the air and organising his defence is. If the keeper is a flapper like Rushworth, it makes the whole defence be on edge.

Well. I think it is. And I think a lot of people either just aren't looking at it, or don't think it's important. Many fans struggle with the modern game and all the passing about at the back. I think people switch off when that is happening and they think it's of no importance until we give the ball away.

Pandur simply can't even try the passes that we need a keeper to make at this level. Rushworth made one last night with his wrong foot into Slater in midfield and set us off on the attack. Those moments are important, but some people think they aren't. Being penned into our own goal mouth because our keeper can't find an out ball has definitely cost us points. Just because he usually doesn't directly give it to an opposing player who scores like against Leeds doesn't mean his distribution isn't holding us back. It is holding us back and he will almost certainly be replaced again either this window or more likely in the summer because of it.

It doesn’t make as much of a difference under Sellés. We’re not a possession-based team anymore that has 60% possession and builds up patiently from the back. I actually think we do need to control the game more with possession under the new head coach because there are games like Boro when we just sat deep, let them have the ball and almost invited them to score. We did the same in the second half last night.

rushworth is more vocal than pandur though, and how is he a 'flapper'

anyway its not even our choice

keepers not the problem and if we go down it will be due to not scoring enough, dont think we have any more hammerings till season end

Pandur can never be any good to certain posters who are still in love with an ex manager who didn’t play him

Thought we just went to sleep at the back for 10 minutes last night and that cost us the game. Don't get me started on Drameh - effing useless

Anyone watched Sellés post match interview after QPR? He didn’t want to talk to the reporter about Kyle Joseph. I thought it was a little bit odd.

A tenuous link as it was about a transfer.

Thought that was a little strange. Probably just didn't want to give Wilder any clues about how we potentially intend be using him on Friday.

And would still prefer his love child from last season to be our number one who was statistically the worst (maybe 2nd worst?) keeper in the league because he occasionally punted an accurate ball to the wing.
