so if huddersfield have accepted our deal, youd think they have basis to cancel the loan
but i guess it might take a couple weeks

Yeah not quite sure why our bid doesn't also cover any loan cancellation fee if they've accepted it. Maybe part of the deal is Nantes gets him for a certain number of games.

I don't even think it's as complex as that, it's probably down to the fact that Nantes don't want to lose a key player and because he's on loan, they don't get any sort of transfer fee which means they'd have to spend money to get one. They're only out of the relegation zone on goal difference, so they're protecting themselves in a position where they're not obliged to send him back.

They are obliged to send him back if the loan break fee is paid. It's no different to Barry returning from Stockport to Villa or any other player where the parent club recalls them. The club the player is on loan at has no say in it.

Yeah but that's if there is a break clause in the loan deal. It's not written into every loan that there is one.

Clearly there is or we'd have no confidence that we'll be able to sign him.

I would think the vast majority of loans have a recall clause by the way, in the event of injury crises, the player going absolutely nuts on his loan, etc. Like Nathan Lowe at Walsall. The only occasions I could imagine there not being a recall clause is if it's a loan with an obligation to buy.

Under the terms of the loan agreement which took him from the John Smith's Stadium to the Stade de la Beaujoire, Town are unable to recall him at this stage which has further complicated the deal.

Where is that sourced from? Would be bizarre to even get to the point of agreeing a fee if Town can't recall him. Verging on incompetence I would think.

We bow to your superior knowledge, oh wait…

I mean like I said, it's bizarre to even try to agree a fee in this situation. Otherwise how do we hope to get him? I notice you didn't bold the second half of that sentence which says exactly that.

Just seems an utter waste of time.

Strikes me Huddersfield must have said ' we can get him back if we accept an offer'... otherwise as Syd says something of a pointless exercise...

Even without Barry I think we're going to end up with six loans which is problematic

Rushworth
Burns
Puerta
Henrique
Gelhardt
LB

So we need to make Puerta a permanent and the suggestion the LB is a loan probably can't happen if we get Barry.
It’s a conundrum, I wonder it Barry isn’t looking likely

It might be in the case of younger players, but with players that they don't deem of much importance, they probably wouldn't bother.
