To me the situation with Barry is an example of the absurdity of the transfer window system and the way clubs deal within it. He was scoring goals at Stockport, gets recalled to go somewhere else, then sits on his arse for weeks whilst everyone has a think about where he should go. How much thinking can it really need? Get him playing somewhere surely.

Villa are basically waiting for someone to come in with a permanent bid that’s too good to turn down in my opinion. It’s one of the reasons I’ve been quietly confident as I suspect with our relationship with Villa we’ve maybe tabled a Philogene style offer

I read they are trying to tie him down to a new contract before agreeing to send him out.

Allahyar was **** from the start, his athleticism was mightily impressive but his footballing skills and brain left a lot to be desired.

That's true and my hope was that his footballing skills would improve as he was young and had a good base to work with given his athleticism.

His end product seems to have improved as he's scoring goals and getting assists.

yea it is stupid
similar to palace with the guy who went to sheff u

he spent all last season doing nothing
these 'big' clubs really mess around youngsters, you could say the same about morton

barry will eventually go to a club before the window closes, im sure we still want him, but we are being proactive instead of putting all our eggs in one basket

What kind of stricker do you get for £2m these days hopefully one that can hit a bus on a bandstand with a biscuit barrel and score some gola’s.

I think Joseph will be signed as more of a team player rather than someone expected to grab all the goals. Someone who will work hard and help create situations that result in others scoring goals as well as him.

sounds like every one of our current attackers <laugh>

We’re signing or being linked with a lot of these types of players though. Forward players who work hard but not prolific. Gelhardt and Amrabat for example are not prolific. After the absolute **** show that was the summer transfer window, you’d expect a goal-scoring number 9 to be the priority.

If we want hard-working forwards who rarely score or create, we may as well keep Longman.

I would prefer someone like Richard Kone at Wycombe if we’re spending millions on a League One forward.

2m for 7 goals in league one… panic panic panic

Seems like a smart signing imo. Covers more ground than any ST in the league, whilst also managing 8 in 24 starts for a team towards the bottom end. What I also like is that of his 8 goals 4 have been with his head, 2 left foot, 2 right foot, so he’s fairly well rounded. Only just turned 23 so will hopefully improve as well

That’s fine but when do we buy the striker to sore the goals.
Last season proves the point, all these 10’s and creative positions but we ended up playing without a striker some games.

im not having a dig at Acun but it was the position he wouldn’t take risks on….but here we are again

If you add in assists he's virtually a goal contribution every other game this season. It may be a league below in a struggling side but I don't see how that's a player without end product as some seem to be dismissing him as.

“Virtually” isn’t goals though orange
I’m saying we have/had these players, we need someone to do the last bit and put the ball in the net

Before I say this I agree with you I would rather go for Kone.

The problem is with these number 9’s is that they’re in real short supply. It seems that to combat that managers like Selles are doing what he’s doing with Pedro. Using them in build up and hoping goals come from wingers and midfielders.

To that note I wouldn’t mind testing Preston’s resolve on Riis. He’s out of contract in the summer and I’ve always felt he’s better than what he gets there
