Didnt say he was did i
Hes just over hyped you muppet

Why mention Akpom as the reason for him being 'overhyped' then as you put it?

We overpaid, but he did get 9 assists in 21 at Cardiff where Akpom didn't score 30 goals.

And if Jones is on the list, then Giles will likely be going to the other direction.

It was the most recent good season he had?

Doubt very much we have 5m to spend on a winger to compete for Jones and if we did would prefer we went back for Zeidane Inoussa.

I am hoping the player is better than some of the others mentioned. Baz when talking about the striker and winger made a point of tempering expectations on the striker and I would have expected him to just say the same about both if that was the case.

We have an asset Boro want, they have one we want.

This would complicate things though, because if that deal were to happen (I can't see it) then we'd only have Jacob at LB, which is a position we're looking to strengthen anyway (or at least we were prior to the Leeds game, maybe Selles has seen Jacob's potential and thinks he is decent enough). We wouldn't let Giles leave if we didn't have strength in depth (and Coyle/Drameh don't count), which means we can't get Jones until another LB comes in.

Crossing and pace, played a big role for Boro and Luton he’s definitely a step up on Jacob but if we aren’t using him as a wing back maybe it’s time to say goodbye. I’d like to see Selles get the best from him though.

I dont even think boro want giles
He was one of many lbs they were interested
They got another

People act like boro are obsessed with him

One of the knocks of Giles was that he was a liability in defence and I think we’ve seen that in stages here. Boro coped with it by allowing him to play high up and dealt with the consequences knowing they would likely score more anyway. We don’t have that luxury

So you're suggesting we're planning to keep Jacob, Giles and strengthen LB too, when the manager wants to work with a small squad and has brought Jacob back into the fold ahead of Giles?

I'm not saying they'll find a way to make it happen, but I think if they can, they will.

Whoever the winger is, I doubt we’ll be spending much on them. We invested heavily there in summer and have Belloumi, Millar and Kamara all tied to long term contracts. An experienced championship player who can come in relatively cheaply, but hopefully see us over the line, makes sense.

If we can get shut of Giles, we should do so as soon as possible, he's stinking the place out.

Think Longman is slated for the exit door, injury permitting.

The 2 long term wingers are crocked so 1 on loan and 1 to potentially replace Longman would leave us with 4 long term wingers after this season when Millar and belloumi should be fit again - 2 competing for each side and I think they want 2 options in each position in an ideal world anyway.

If Giles went to Boro for the majority of the Jones fee, then we're just cashing in one asset for another and hopefully without too much net outlay.

It does seem longmans leaving
Which is unfortunate

For us or for him? Depends if we can replace him with someone better. Shame he got injured pre-season as I think his loan at Millwall last season improved him. But as he's out of contract in the summer it makes sense to get rid I suppose - provided as I say -we can get someone better in

Im not even sure he is, he’s started 4 games under Selles. I thought he played well against Swansea and Watford, the team was **** against Coventry and then off injured against Preston. I still think Giles and Drameh are our best fullback pairing

Boro still have an interest in Giles, and he'd be happy to go as well, by all accounts.

Think it's just the fact they don't think he's worth what we've paid -and i'd agree btw, and we don't want to sell him at a substantial loss that's the main issue.

Using a player as a makeweight might offer a way through the impasse.

I think he's had one good game in eighteen months, I can't wait to see the back of him.
