Crooks makes 100% sense if Omur is going, if not, whilst i'll be happy to see experience and a physical presence in the door I do worry about us having an abundance of players who play in the same position, and a 2 1/2 year deal for a 30 year old comes with risks.

Porteous or Boly, champ experience, yep, physical presence, yep - either would be good additions and we absolutely need a 4th CB as 3 isn't enough. Porteous...played for Scotland so he's used to playing for a **** team who loses a lot....that's a plus atm.....he has played 20 odd times for Watford this season, so not sure why they'd sell him??? and when everyone is fit does he automatically get in ahead of Jones/Hughes??? Boly - the obvious concern vs Porteous is age, I just don't see the point in taking on a 33 year old, unless he's happy coming as a 3rd 4th choice on a sensible wage

Omur going before we're sure of Palmer's return date might leave us a bit light in the meantime though, don't you think?

If that happens it'll be late in the window I reckon. Maybe not at all if Palmer's isn't going to be back before Feb and will take another month or so to get up to speed

We've Slater/Puerta doing a decent job there at the moment - my concern over squad size comes mainly down to cost, if correct Omur is joint top earner, and paying top dollar for someone to be 3rd choice is criminal

I'd have rather said 18 months and whopping bonus if we stay up... and then a talk on an extensions... everyone wins...

Maybe that would have been the ideal from the clubs perspective.

But then if a rival offers 2.5 years he goes there and we miss out on yet another target.

Oh, I agree with that, just not sure we're in a position to risk letting him go just yet. Slater and Puerta are more effective as 8's for me.

We're looking at Crooks, Palmer and Omur as potential 10's with Palmer injured for the foreseeable. It's not a crazy overload in the short term but I accept there has been a lot of churn in that position.

But then there has been everywhere else too.

Hopefully the focus on youth in summer and the new DOF puts an end to that level.of churn going forward.
Part of the churn in midfielders is the lack of academy produce in that position, we only seem successful at producing defenders and wingers?
