He was someone I thought would’ve been a decent Greaves replacement in the summer before we signed Hughes.
They made him redundant as part of a countrywide local radio restructure.
He was invited back to do city commentary only but he'd have lost a lot of his redundancy so it wasn't worth it financially.
Irony is, if he'd stayed as sports editor instead of moving to daytime a few years ago, then he'd probably still be there as local sport was exempt from the restructure.
He had a verbal agreement (I know) to commentate on sport three months after his contract ended.

No, Swanny is still on the BBC gravy train (wish I was).
I did enjoy David Meyler’s as co-commentary a couple of seasons ago, but he’s obviously coaching the in the youth team set up now so probably wouldn’t have time.
Think some of that was to do with getting him in the ground during COVID restrictions.
