I saw him 4 times I think at U21 level, others might have seen more. He was always a) by far the best player on our team and b) not doing a stroke of work defensively.
I saw him a couple times for the under-21s as well. Pace, skill, eye for goal etc. but yeah, always played like doing defensive work was beneath him. Sometimes when you watch a player, you get the sense they’re playing for themselves rather than the team. I got those vibes when watching Jarvis. Someone who would be happier scoring two goals but losing the game than getting no goals or assists but being on the winning side and contributing with pressing and tracking back.
He’s the polar opposite of Longman, in my opinion, and it’s probably why Longman will go on to have a decent career at Championship or upper League One level and Jarvis won’t.
