We’re going to have to take risks for sure given our position in the table, so hopefully Ruben can pull some magic in the transfer market. Baz confirmed on the podcast that the club have been in talks with a striker from the Premier League for some time, I’m led to believe that’s Deivid Washington who we came close to signing in Summer (and botched the paperwork apparently). It’s a loan, quite low risk as he isn’t on mega money at Chelsea and he is a real talent, but if he’s coming in then it’s without any experience in senior English football outside of a couple of minutes here and there. That was ongoing while Walter was in charge but it might be the case that Ruben thinks we need someone else and we scrub it.

We need creativity AND muscle in the midfield. @PLT will laugh at me for this, but we need a David Meyler (I used to rag on Meyler a lot and he pick me up on it every time) type to take the game by the scruff of the neck.

People are saying Coyle is washed, I disagree, he started the season fine and was great last season, he’s just going through a rough patch of form and I reckon Sellés will take him out the firing line for a bit. He can’t stay in when playing badly just because he’s captain, that’s Sunday league bullshit.

I did say last month that if we were sticking with Walter, then it would be better to not spend in January and save for Summer. Whichever league we are in, the club needs a sort out (again…) without too much disruption. I don’t think it needs much to be a decent Championship side, it’s just been badly mismanaged.

In all the rebuilds we've done under Acun, he always seems to forget the need for characters and leaders in the dressing room. We're crying out for a Smallwood or a Honeyman right now.

As far as a number 6 goes, I think Kyprianou would be decent. Posh are mid-table in League One so even a Championship team in a relegation scrap is a step up. Problem would be if more stable Championship teams want him.

Posh always seem to play hardball in January and let their best go in the summer. But I agree it’s one of the best options out there

He’s in the final year of his contract so we could force their hand in January. Other clubs will be sniffing though.

I can’t think of many decent defensive mids we could sign who would want to come. He’s the pick of the bunch in League One.

Dont be silly
We will sign a mid tier number 10 from superlig instead

Yeah I think they did the same with Mason-Clarke who tore us up yesterday. Difference is Cov loaned him back. Example of what good clubs do in long term planning for recruitment

I like Kyprianou, he did well at Leyton Orient and I always thought he’d go on to play at a higher level, but I think we’ll go in for Lewis Wing, I think that agreement about being unable to sign Reading players is bollocks and he won’t cost a lot.

There’s also Kyle Dempsey who has done very well at Bolton and I don’t know how much of League Two you’ve watched this season, but Ossama Ashley at Salford has been (and I hate using this term) a beast as their Number 6. He doesn’t create anything really, he is just a ball winner, his main job is getting the ball and giving it to the defence to play on. Absolutely nothing fancy at all.

I like Kyprianou a lot. Decent age, he’s captained Posh, strong, aggressive and pretty good on the ball to boot. Last year of his contract so we’d be daft not to bid.

Wouldn’t mind Lewis Wing either but I’d prefer Kyprianou as I think he has a higher ceiling.

Not been impressed with Puerta at all.

Tell me what he does aside from “give it his all” he’s a professional. He’s highly praised for the bare minimum.

Running around for the sake of it earns you brownie points with a lot of supporters. Even though he hides during games, doesn’t show for the ball, put a tackle in or impose himself on games.

Just because Giles is a lazy, stroppy **** doesn’t shield the likes of Slater and Coyle from criticism.
