That's the best I've ever seen Murray across the whole of a tournament. Incredibly high level of consistency.
It was coming from the moment he had a great clay court season. He gained so much confidence from that even though he lost to Djokovic. I think he would have beaten Djokovic today anyway.
Would have been some contest, that's for sure. Difference being mental as much as anything - he believes/knows at his best he beats the likes of Raonic. The trouble is, he also knows that even at his best, Djokovic can still beat him.
Yeah, he's barely put a foot wrong the whole fortnight. Of course, there'll be still some saying that he had an easy run-through without having to play Novak, Federer and Nadal. What was he supposed to do, pull out when Nadal did? Throw his match when he knew that Novak had lost? The record books won't care about that, they'll just show that he was Wimbledon champion in 2016.
Fantastic win. You know this really highlights what a strange position Murray has been in for most of his career. He's clearly been much better than everyone ranked 5 or below for all that time but has also been a step (or maybe half a step) behind Djokovic, Nadal and Federer. If he hadn't been playing at the same time as three of the very best ever he'd surely have won 8 slams or more.
He mentioned tough to play in front of he Prime Minister and didn't look too happy when some knobs booed. Interesting he didn't mention the Scottish First Minister who was also there.
Yes!! Come on! The footy build up has started. I'm not going in too early on the I-pad suggestion....
They did it. 4 GB players won a title...unbelievable Actually 5 because of the wheelchair doubles both being British..
