If the choice is the Tories privatising slowly by stealth or Labour bankrupting and destroying it by incompetence then I know which is the better option! There is no desirable option to vote for, I just see Labour as the greater evil. They're all; lying, cheating, shysters and will all serve their pay masters and themselves long before Joe public gets a look in.

Why can't you comment? Not far to go back to read a bit of history, the effects are still to be seen today. If you have no knowledge of British politics prior to the previous government surely you can't really be qualified to comment on what a labour governor is likely, or unlikely to do re: taxation etc.
But it's all history isn't it?
I was too busy being 10 years old when she came out of power. I try to live in the present. I was working and earning when labour were in last time so I know what effects they had on the economy first hand. Do you think the average man in the street of a similar age to me really thinks about what Maggie did in the 80's?
I'm "qualified" to comment on what I want, thanks. This is an opinion of what I perceive so far in my life, no qualification is required.
Things for me and the people that work for me have been better under this government. Before, under Labour I got taxed to hell personally and corporately so could not afford to employ more people.
I tend not to enter into these political debates as I can't be arsed to write a long and detailed essay on the relative merits of governments and economic policy. The debate rages on as to whether the trickle down theory creates stronger and better economies- at best the answer is equivocal. To blame one political party for the state of the UK economy is nonsensical as we exist in a world economy, and there are hangovers from each term of office that can take many terms to eradicate. To the extent, that political ideology shaped the global recession, then surely that ideology is more akin to the tory ideology!. I would never vote for a conservative government as the core ideals appear more self serving than labour (of course all politicians are likely to be self serving). The bigger issue for me is how little we can effect the composition and behaviour of "the establishment"- and how the feck we allow it to continue- a substantive change is required.

From what I do know of Maggie, what my Grandad told me, rest his soul, she was an absolute nightmare.
My Grandad was a railway worker working between Chapel and Colchester so a bad industry to be in at the time. I'm not sticking up for her or what she did and didn't do.
I'm saying how I find things at the moment and recently in my life as it's what I actually know and have experienced. I don't get all this mud slinging and historical rhetoric about politics.
It's about what works best for the people at the time and for me and the people who work for me the Conservatives are working.

Out of the 14 people I employ 13 are UK Nationals.
Most of them are service engineers that earn very good money and have company cars. I have some office/admin workers that earn slightly less. For Norfolk I think we pay a decent wage, in fact I know we do.
I employ one Polish guy who is hard working and on the same money as everyone else.

KEMP - thanks for this positive good news story, which I hope is repeated many times around the country. Any governmental policies that threaten businesses like yours must be avoided, and any party likely to put them in place not put in a position from where they could do so. The Tories ain't perfect but they're much more the friend of business, particularly SMEs like yourself, than Labour. To be honest, having Ed Balls as Chancellor, even Canary fan as he is, scares the begeebers out of me.

Believe it or not there are some good places to work out there. I hope my staff would say my place is one of them. We haven't lost any staff for 6 years at least. Actually one of then went travelling and is now a post woman. But we are on good terms.
Your commen did hurt me a bit because I do try hard for both myself and family and the people who work for me.
We even give interest free loans to staff who are trying to get on the housing ladder, with very flexible payment terms.
There are some bad places though that give the rest a bad name.
The thing is, because I will more than likely vote Conservative in the election it makes me a bad person in some peoples eyes.
I am not, I will always do what I think is best. It may not fit in with what might be best for other people but I respect their choice and the Labour party may be the right option for them. Why the animosity?

Funny how the minimum tax amount has gone up from £6500 to £11,000 next year under the Tories. Labour are very good at giving benefits to all and giving no incentives to work.
For what it's worth, I work for the NHS and going private may be a good idea in many respects. Too many lifers here with minimal output who wouldn't last two minutes in the private sector and aren't fit for purpose that need getting rid of.
For the record, I won't be voting Tory however I certainly will not be voting on " mission bankrupt the country by handing out ridiculous benefits to all " Labour that's for sure.
Thank heavens for Ed Milliband please stay incharge for the next 20 years of Labour. LOVE the guy.

Also, the NHS gets paid for every patient that turns up. We cannot charge patients who did not attend which is absurd. We get paid £80 minimum for every patient that turns up plus extras depending - so why can they not be billed at least a small %%% if they fail to turn up?

I'm really not pro Tory at all but the idea Labour are in it for the workers is laughable at best. Very good at messing up the country and blowing the massive pot they inherited in 1997. Very good at selling gold at the all time record low price. Very good at abolishing passport checks. Very good at going to way illegally.
God I hate Labour! But that's because I have a work ethic. I would love Labour if I didn't want to work and pop out children, that's 4 million guaranteed voters.

I actually think that the General Election won't be as close as people think and fully expect the Tories to have a majority albeit nowhere near a landslide, we shall see.
