Why I DONT rate Koscielney.

This argument is between those who think players are bad after one poor run of form, and those that don't.

Vermaelen and Sagna are in bad form, but are our best defenders. Koscielny has been in good form, but isn't even close to Vermaelen at his best.

Really, really poor article.

Stats mean absolutely nothing. They are very misleading.

Koscielny has been our second best player after RVP this season. He's been brilliant week in week the whole season. We need more players like him.

If someone does need to be dropped it's Vermaelen. He's cost us at least 10 goals this season. He's nowhere near as good as Koscielny.

Always said Koscielny + Mertesacker is our best CB partnership.
 
Lol, Vermaelen has been making mistakes since he joined us, what do you mean 'he's in bad form'? What a flawed argument.

Vermaelen makes way too many mistakes. Koscielny is streets ahead of him, it's not even close. Mertesacker is also comfortably better than him.
 
I love Vermaelen to bits, but he's an extremely overrated defender. He's rated highly because he scores a lot of goals, but people forget that it's his job to stop us from conceding goals. He makes bags of errors and costs us points. He's not a great defender, but he's a good footballer.

Koscielny is a great defender and a good footballer. He was good last season and he's been immense this season. Our best centre back by a country mile. He's saved us on so many occasions this season. One of the best defenders in the league for sure.

You are Insaine. If he was 'brilliant week in week out' we would'nt have conceded 47 league goals.

None of our defenders have been brilliant this term. To claim any have is not only wrong its plain stupid.

Another stupid comment from a very stupid poster.

Koscielny hasn't been responsible for the 47 league goals we've conceded. He's done very little wrong. He's been an absolute rock at the back.

Song and Vermaelen are responsible for many of those goals. Song thinks he's Iniesta, he's forgetting his defensive duties. Our defence has been exposed too often this season because of that donkey. But like Vermaelen, people will judge him based on what he offers going forward rather than his defensive contributions. Song has been shockingly bad this season.

Koscielny has been one of the finest defenders in England.

One thing I do agree with you on is about how both Koscielny and Vermaelen are not great in the air. That's why I think Mertesacker needs to replace Vermaelen.
 
Someone raised a valuable point though it got lost in a sea of Koscielny bashing, we have conceded far more goals with Szczesny in goals than we did with Almunia. I don't know what to make of this, has the defence just become far worse than it was, or is Szczesny not as good as we think?

Seriously, the OP is the thickest person I've come across on this forum. And I've come across people like Berbnanidez, Constcrepe and Comas, so that's saying something.

No to push the responsibility elsewhere is the stupid thing. The fact is that Koscielney has been the most regular member of a back four (most apps) that has performed terribly. None of our back four deserves praise.

Like I already pointed out from a statistical basis we concede less when Vermaelen starts. But I agree Vermalen has been poor recently also.

As for Koscileny being one of the 'finest defenders in England', I'll just leave this here...


If you were to list all of the good attributes of Adams, Campbell, Keown, Bould etc.. you would get:

1. Strong.
2. Good in the Air (height normally plays a part in this)
3. Reads the game well
4. Vocal and organised.
5. Aggressive
6. Intimidating.(psychology plays a huge part in sport)
..among others. Most of which CANNOT be applied to Koscielney.

Koscielny has been solid for us since we signed him. This season he has been absolutely sensational. He's obviously had a go with your missus, that's the only reason I can think of as to why you criticise him when he's been our second best player this season.

Vermaelen has always been an overrated defender. Koscielny was better than Vermaelen even in his first season quite comfortably.

Stats mean nothing. Especially the ones you posted.

Here's a stat for you. Grant Holt has scored more goals than Suarez this season.

Does that make him a better player? You probably think so, the normal people will agree that Suarez is by far the superior player though.

He was obsessed with Bendtner the way you are Kos. Slightly weirds me out but whatever floats your boat I guess.
