Why did a rivalry never develop between Liverpool and City?

You've done nothing but argue mate, strange thing is you being from Southampton yet thinking your an expert on the inhabitants of Liverpool.

People of whatever creed, colour or lineage are entitled to be whoever/whatever they want(just like yourself), your silly definition of "Kop"(King Over Pope)shows your lack of knowledge of where the name originated, your bringing up Sams(orange)club up and posting link to the LOL and slating St Patrick and those who celebrate his day was strange considering the conversation was about Ireland/catholic connections to LFC

You need to get into town more lad instead of propping the bar up at Sam's, for the record nobody except you said "all Scousers are Irish" in the above post and you couldn't be more wrong Liverpool is a diverse city of many cultures and has been for hundreds of years, the oldest Chinese community in Western Europe, a black community descended from slaves etc.

Just put it to bed lad because your one tracked mind and one eyed view of your current home city is funny, how about you talk about all things Southampton on their board instead of talking bollocks on here.

It's a hoot. When it comes down to it there are very few true Liverpudlians. From the building of the first dock the population of Liverpool grew like topsy. It drew migrants from all over the British Isles and later from even further afield. If Scousers can be defined as a unique group then it owes more to the way that the inhabitants of the city coalesced to form their own culture.

so who are the Scoucers - I don't know and I don't care I just know that I'm proud to be Scouse.

Tbh you're becoming very tedious, the Kop was indeed named after the Boer War battle.

The Spion Kop at Anfield dates back to 1905-06. At the end of that season, which saw Liverpool lift the second of our 18 league championships, the directors at the club decided to reward the loyalty of the fans by building a new brick and cinder banking at the Walton Breck Road end of the ground. It was christened as the Spion Kop by Ernest Edwards of The Echo in memory of the many scousers who died in battle over a hill in South Africa by the same name during the Boer War.

You're a troll looking for an argument about something you know jack about, for the record this is the Liverpool board not the 'i live in Liverpool but i'm from Southampton board', as someone born and bred in Vauxhall i reckon i know a little bit more about all things local than yourself.

Now unless you've got something constructive to say about LFC or the city of Liverpool just drop it.

My original post questioned the one Irishness of Liverpool so your argument about diversity is moot .

Your argument of you being born here and therefore by default know more than myself (this may well be true or not) is close minded to say the least .

Digbeth in Birmingham is well known as the most Irish place in England , it use to be Kilburn , North London . Liverpool possibly celebrate their Irishness more ?

For the record I lived in Vauxhall for a while , the Castle was my local , what the **** does that prove ?

I'm not arguing, never was arguing, just stating that this city has an Irish connection, i never once claimed this city had the monopoly on the issue.

You on the other hand have managed to bring Northern Ireland, Birmingham, Sams Orange club, the Loyal Orange Order and your silly definition of what the Kop was named after onto the thread and slag St Patrick off.<laugh>

You're actually right. I've heard that ''King Over Pope'' stuff myself, its a load of crap. I've heard people say it stands for ''Knocked Of Perch''. However I also heard AIG stood for ''Ain't Iniesta Great'' and ''Alex Is Gutted''.
 
The Liverpool fan that is kopite does not believe me as I was not born in Liverpool , Sir Kenny . He/she is determined that there appears to be solely Southern Irish history (as far as Ireland is concerned) in Liverpool , when I explained Liverpool had more Irish history than that all hell broke loose , and you are correct it is a load of crap , sectarianism of any shape and form is crap .

There is loads of places that have Irish history and Irish communities. There is many communities all over the world, over here in Ireland we've got a part of Dublin called 'Little Poland''. They have their own church, newspaper, shops etc.
