Lucas - god no.

He needs to go or be put down. Physically isn't up to, and was never intelligently up to it.

Can is the best person for that role now.

I think the same issues will remain but they won't be as exposed as before purely based on energy and effort. Milner (assume he's replacing Gerrard here) will put a lot more effort in, here cover much more ground and he will be a better shield as a result..

However, it needs to be a three, Heno, Milner and one other. My preference for the other would be Lucas, I'd be happy with Can but suspect we'll see Allen should Brod go with that type of system.

There will certainly be more energy and ground covered. But that does not translate into being better defensively. Neither possess great positioning or awareness, or discipline to play a DM role which is why I'm concerned.

Big difference between pressing and working hard, and being a proper DM/shield for a defence IMO.

But I do agree we will be less exposed than less season but I saw the same issues in a few of the preseason matches - once Hendo's and Milners pressing is bypassed, defence is left exposed.

One thing is for certain - the high press is back. We created a number of chances by forcing errors high up the pitch.

And with Firmino in the team, he will hound all game long.

Benteke won't be chasing down full backs like a terrier that's a certainty.

A high press means a high back line.

Good luck with that one <laugh>

Which is better...

a) being **** with a lack of energy

or

b) being **** with lots of energy

...?

One is obviously better than the other!

Benteke won't but Ings, Origi, Studge (partly), Firmino, Coutinho, Hendo, Allen, Milner, Lucas, Can, Markovic, Ibe, etc all will

He's incredibly lazy.

But Firmino is one of the hardest working attackers you'll likely to see.

Similar to SAS - Sturridge didn't press but Suarez did it all.

poor flores... i mean what did he do so wrong eh?

i thin tkhe frst game gave a lot of people a good sighter as to the relative levels of a lot of clubs.

not too many are impressed by martinez and everton. I think the bookies prob took a few bets but ithink they have dropepd the odds as if that kind of performance continues he will come under pressure.

Advocaat is likely to walk not be pushed if anything. it seems to be sunderland are well short of options up front and so will struggle this year.

rodgers odds get much longer i'm going to bet on him going by christmas

What are the odds for? Next in PL or sacked before a certain date.

I wouldn't be surprised to see LVG gone at end of season. Especially if they don't finish top 4.

Rodgers definitely walking a fine line.
