He needs to go or be put down. Physically isn't up to, and was never intelligently up to it.

Can is the best person for that role now.

 

There will certainly be more energy and ground covered. But that does not translate into being better defensively. Neither possess great positioning or awareness, or discipline to play a DM role which is why I'm concerned.

Big difference between pressing and working hard, and being a proper DM/shield for a defence IMO.

But I do agree we will be less exposed than less season but I saw the same issues in a few of the preseason matches - once Hendo's and Milners pressing is bypassed, defence is left exposed.

One thing is for certain - the high press is back. We created a number of chances by forcing errors high up the pitch.

And with Firmino in the team, he will hound all game long.

 

Benteke won't be chasing down full backs like a terrier that's a certainty.

A high press means a high back line.

i thin tkhe frst game gave a lot of people a good sighter as to the relative levels of a lot of clubs.

Advocaat is likely to walk not be pushed if anything. it seems to be sunderland are well short of options up front and so will struggle this year.
