Jesus, how hard can it be to walk into one of the best run teams in Europe, with some of the best traning facilities in the world, with established and successful trainers and backroom staff.................and just keep it working.

Why does Moyes keep saying that he needs to change this, change that - nothing needed changing, it all worked perfectly from the Academy to the Premier League Championship winning first team. What can he possibly do, with his limited expereince of mid-table Everton, that the vastly expereinced team of SFA couldn't.

This isn't some relegation team full of misfits and has-beens that needed some deadwood staff kicking out and some long-overdue, radical changes to the training methods and playing style....this is Manchester United.

Maybe he doesn't want a Fergie team and wants to build his own for the future.

It wont be easy to do, Fergie was a one man act.

Best to just get behind Moyes and give him your support.
 
WBA have been our bogey team since they won promotion, we just turn up thinking we are going to put 3 or 4 past them but its always been tight wins or draws and now we have been punished for it. congrats to them anyway.

This is not meant in a making fun way, but from what i have seen, granted i have not seen all your games, you just seem to be missing a bit of luck, which all teams need. Whether it is luck or Sir Alex s influence - i dont know. The games you have lost could all easily have been wins, fairly certain you will turn this around. CL i think is the objective this season, and you will def get that.
 
Hmmm...stick with the same team and the same system on the basis that it just won the league you say? I remember teams doing that before:

City did it last season
Utd did it the season before
Chelsea did it the season before that

In all cases, the team that didn't make changes failed to perform to the same level the following season. You can't just stick with the title winning team and expect them to do just as well, as it almost never works. SAF is the only manager of the past thirty years to make it work.

Besides which, I don't agree with the sentiment of wanting Moyes to be "SAF lite" doing everything the same way but obviously less effectively. That simply won't work and will just result in a long slow decline. I'd much rather we had more serious problems this season and worked through them, rather than doing what Chelsea have done for the past eight years and in doing so worked through a gradual decline as manager try and fail to copy what Mourinho did.

Give Moyes some time and patience and he'll work it out. Or he won't. Either way, he'll stand and fail on his own merits rather than his ability to try and be SAF. I reckon back in the late 80s there were fans arguing SAF should have kept Atkinson's system on the basis that it won us some cups and got us into the top four, and look how that worked out in the end.

Guessing you aren't referring to the City match in that statement <whistle>

Tho' it's a fair point - we had plenty of matches under SAF where we looked like we were going to lose or draw and we managed to grab a result in the last few mins. Doubt Moyes will be able to do the same with as much regularity, so he's going to have to find his own way of getting the results, which is going to take time and hard work.

I've always been a great believer in the phrase "the harder you work the luckier you get", DM just needs the time and space to put the work in.

Sorry, yes did actually watch that game, but tbf you had VP out, and he is a loss to any team, again that is something Sir Alex did not have to deal with, at Arsenal he was always out for about 10 games per season, at Utd he stayed fit, now Moyes has that to deal with.
I personally think Moyes is a very good manager, in Fergies league, ?, never, but who is, who you guys would want (still like Mouri personally but understand why he is not a good fit for Utd)
Like you say Swarbs, Moyes has to find his own way, obviously to us neutrals it good to see Utd struggle, however a strong English league is one with a strong Utd,

The big problem with the 'Or he Won't' option is this.

If we fail to secure C L football next season (and on the basis of league form let's not delude ourselves that we will progress far in the CL this season), we won't be able to attract the players we will need to improve the squad. That will precipitate more decline and we can't afford not to get the best talents in with such an ageing squad.

I was all for giving our previous new managers time, right back to Wilf McGuinness (who don't forget was Busby's annointed successor) and as for Atkinson, yes he was successful tio a degree, but when the time came to replace him, he was replaced by SAF who had already proven himself with Aberdeen.

Moyes is untested and has already shown that he cannot bring the best out of the squad. Time for a new manager - any new manager is short in the modern game, the commercial pressures are just too great.

It's completely amazing that there are people out there who didnt expect this. Nobody. Not Mourinho, not Guardiola, not Klopp, nobody, could just walk into your club and 'pick up where it left off.' To suggest they could is almost an insult to the man who consistently dragged about 15 points more than the raw talent in the squad would have capable of otherwise.

Those players are used to bad defeats being followed by a string of victories. They are used to having one of the best man managers of all time leading them. Anybody else would look bad by comparison, and they are inevitably going to be wondering whether moyes is up to it now. Nobody knows yet whether he is up to it, but jumping on his back now, after 6 games, is outrageous.

Fergie has gone, and the invincibility that your club had has gone aswell. for the time being at least. Give him a chance.

It seems to be going OK for Bayern Munich, Barca, Real Madrid and PSG, all of whom have new managers ....................We could have had the pick of the global managerial talent, but no, we had to go with the manager of the team that scraped 20 odd points less than us.

Crass stupidity, look how hard it is proving for LFC to breal back into the top tier.

None of whom are replacing a manager who had built a global institution in his own image.

All of the teams you named either have squads which, on paper, are either vastly superior to man utds or in basically uncompetative leagues. None of them had a start as hard as yours either.

Honestly, you could be proved to be right. It could be that David Moyes is out of his depth.

I just think that, given the scale of the job and the enormity of the shoes he is filling, judging him after any 6 games, let alone the 6 he has had, is grossly unfair.

Its like making some guy and a few mates with burger vans the new Executive Management team at Burger King. On paper the two roles are similar and you would imagine that one could do the other, however, the realities are quite different.

I'll have onions on mine Dave.
