Top team based on doing either (or both) of:
- Regularly challenging for the premier league (ie. more than once in a blue moon eg. Liverpool last season)
- Regularly getting far in the CL

City and Chelsea fit at least one of those categories each.
Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs and Everton do not fit either.
United haven't fitted either since Fergie left, but look most likely to reach one (or both of) out of the chasing pack.

Chelsea and City are quite clearly the two best teams in the country.

One season and six games, **** me what do you call regular, 5 times per season?

I think there aren't many managers who wouldn't win most games if they could simply go out and spend £150m ever transfer window... even overrated ones like LVG and AW who play absurd tactics.
If United pay over the odds to entice players like Hummels, Subotic, Benatia, Godin, Chiellini, Bender etc in January or Summer 2015 then they'll be an obscene force.

And why wouldn't they pay obscene odds if they can (which they can) and they want to (it seems they want to after this summer)?

LVG has had half of one transfer window to try and lift an ailing squad. Lets see how he does in the next couple before we say he does it every transfer window eh (unless you mean he has done it 100% of the time so far ).

You and I both know he'll go out and buy some defenders that aren't mediocre like Rojo.

He could buy another centrehalf and maybe a holding mid but i don`t see that costing £150mil :D
Rojo has only played one game at CB, and for a short arse next to two 19yo kids against West Hams tall physical attack he did pretty good. I have high hopes for him <cool>

As I said, this isn't one game, there is a big context here of underachievement, and a shorter context with the start to this season, which has been abysmal, 2 wins out of 6, 1 win in our last 5, we are piss poor at the moment.

And I will repeat, what excuse is there now for us underachieving?

A87 I usually agree with you when everybody berates you but I have to say I think this rant is probably badly timed more than anything. I understand your upset we have not set a roaring pace like Chelsea but the positive part about this season is we are still unbeaten in the league. If we can transform this mentality of fighting for results into wins then we will be moving in the right direction.

I think there is still quite a bit of work to do with regards to buliding an understanding within the team but considering the amount of new personel we have I am quite happy we have not yet lost a game in the league so far.

I never considered us title contenders this year because Chelsea and City have too much quality with too much depth.

I think sometimes it's easy to get frustrated with the way we play when we should be winning games instead of drawing. in times like that I look at where United and Liverpool are now,
(2 clubs with similar anti financial doping policies) and I am happy with where we are. Will we ever win the league again? in my opinion it wont be for a while or until the financial landscape in the premier league changes.

So rose tinted brigade members, what excuses do you have now?

Try to keep it on point instead of turning the conversation about me and trying to divert.

7 games, 2 wins, 4 draws, a loss, 9 points behind Chelski, still can't get it done in the big games, so I'm wondering where's this massive improvement you've all been harping on about?

No I wasn't. I still predicted us to lose this game, go check the predictions you dumb ****. Saying we had a good game which we did doesn't make me a member of the rose tinted brigade.

As soon as we lose your back on here looking for a fight...

7 games, 2 wins, draws, 1 loss, are you not going to put your hands up and say that's not good enough, and we have not improved?

I think we haven't had the best start, like several other clubs. I think we had a very disrupted pre season and it's taken us a while to gel and settle into playing fluid football. In our first few games we struggled to play the way we like too. Recently we have improved and been playing much better though I'm disappointed we haven't translated the performances into more points.

As usual, and it's really starting to get on my nerves, we have had our spat of injuries to first team players that has also not helped things.

I do think our squad has improved. All of the signings we made in the summer are looking like good signings. In goal and across the back line I think we have options similar to last season, the same numbers, possible improvement in personnel. In midfield we have the same options plus wilshere is looking over his injury and diaby may play a role, overall a slight improvement despite no change in players. Our wide options have improved with Sanchez and Campbell coming into the squad and up top we have improved with Welbeck coming in to give giroud competition.

So yes I think our squad has improved from last season.

It isn't an improvement on last season in terms of where we are at with points by this stage of the season, though we have had a difficult run of fixtures.

I think it's not been as good as we would have liked but it's still early enough for things to change and at the very least our performances seem to be improving so there is room for hope.

Okay, as a relatively new user, could someone point out the deluded wenger loyalists for me please? That way i know whose opinion to take with a grain of salt.

If your actually a new member I'm sure you'll want to know who the emos are tht go into meltdown every time something doesn't know our way :p
