Well I wouldn't have said it otherwise. TBH it seems sensible to consider all the info, and all outlooks on a situation, rather than making a sweeping generalisation on it. But that's just me. I suppose it's easier to just say everything is rubbish, and then get annoyed because it doesn't immediately get better...
So there are (or were) both sensible advantages and disadvantages to the following situations? - racist hate crimes - homophobic hate crimes - rape, murder etc note... I'm in no way comparing Arsenal's situations to any of the above as that would be ludicrous. I'm merely pointing out that in life there are clearly some things are definitely entirely positive or negative and there is no middle ground. For anything in life there is no reason why some things can't be entirely positive or negative with no middle ground.
?????? Sorry I'm not sure where this response has come from? I think you totally misunderstood my point. I never said that there are advantages and disadvantages to every situation. I simply saying that there's a lot of grey in life - not sure what's so difficult to understand about that? What I'm trying to get at is that there are lots of reasons for something - something isn't just S*** and that's that, things with Arsenal aren't just the most amazing they've every been, or the worst possible situation in the world. Some bits of Arsenals performances have been very good, some have been very poor. That is the grey area I'm talking about. I don't know why you think what I said above means that I think that I said there's advantages to murder or rape or discrimination???
Blimey, what is this, pseuds corner? Football is a simple game, really. Buy a centre forward who scores goals. Problem solved.
Well no situation is black or white - take the 2nd world war for example, it's a terrible thing and horrendous, but there were lots of causes to it, it wasn't just that Hitler was a mad man (which he was), there were other causes such as the economy of Germany at the time, the world recession of the 20s, the constraints put on Germany at the end of the 1st World War, the simmering racial tensions throughout Europe, as well as many more. That doesn't mean I endorse WWII and say it's a good thing, just because I don't see the war as black and white as hitler is a mad man so he started the war. I can't believe your getting so angry and having trouble with the point that there are lots of different reasons for things that happen in life - it's not just a simple case of black and white? It's a commonly accepted view point...
Every action has unforeseen circumstances and each door that shuts opens another. Regardless of how bad a certain situation is there is every chance there is some sort of grey area. Your examples are very general and don't allow for us to see what silver lining there may be. The rape may lead to a child, the racist hate crime may have lead to a change in the law, one person getting murdered might have stopped others dying etc... The positive may not always be as prevalent as the negative in a situation but life is full of grey and every situation has more than one perspective that can be achieved from the same situation.
