Last season we finished runners up with a team predominantly set up by Dalglish from the staff to the confidence, this year Rodgers has gone out and spunked £120m up the wall. Whichever way you look at it, he has spent that amount of money - We shouldn't just say 'Net spend' because he spent £120m.

With that he has brought a player who was performing reasonably well at Southampton (Lovren) at £20m, he paid £4m for a forward who gets limited time on the field and £16m on a player who brings more controversy than talent. £25m on a player Rodgers, for some reason insists, on leaving on the bench. Then there's Markovich who brings nothing to the team or squad from what I can see. Add to this shower, the dross he brought in the season before whilst trying to 'build on' what Dalglish had already started and it looks appaulling.

So the question is, does Rodgers look at the squad and think 'This is a cracking looking team, I've got Markovich to bring on who can make an impact!' or does he think ' I can't believe I spunked all that money on this ****e! And to make things better, they're still paying me to pick the crap as well!' I don't buy in to all this Get rid stuff unnecessarily but, I think it's time we changed because the confidence and will to win should come from a manager, who breems with confidence...This is not the case with Rodgers and I can only see things getting worse if we continue to try and ride this storm out.

you are right it is only going one way... its like last season. I said enjoy it win or lose while it lasts, trust SAS and other such fine and positive stuff... This year I have to keep saying "its only going one way" but I think its only recently people are seeing that too...

I'm long since on record about the scenario i could see at the start of the year but this is even worse than that now... far worse.

I thought we'd struggle with LS but never in a million years expect to be in a such a dire state! Rodgers doesn't have a clue, he looks to have lost the team and I honestly don't see him regaining it any time soon. Shame really because if he stopped being so bloody stubborn, he might have a fighting chance!!

Rodgers made fundamental errors going into this season:

- Expecting Suarez to stay and buying players around him. Markovic will be a success but was going to take a year to settle. Lambert is a Plan Z option, and Lallana would feed Suarez.

- Not replacing Suarez properly. We wanted to get Sanchez which would have been ideal but after he rejected us, we then looked at big target men. This means that we have to change our style. We should have a fast, versatile striker who could replace Sturridge when he's injured and also play as a partner.

- Buying the wrong senior players. IMO - the young players we signed this summer are excellent bits of business. With the exception of Markovic, the others are relatively cheap, have good current ability and immense potential. These players have come in and improved us I feel. The problem lies with the seniors that RODGERS wanted.

Lallana and Lovren being the worst bits of business in terms of impact vs value. Mario is showing signs of improvement in terms of his movement and running but he's been poor as well. I've been critical of Lambert but he is what he is. It's not his fault he's average. Lallana and Lovren were supposed to come in and improve the first team. They've failed. For the moeny we spent on them, we could have got top class players.

- Switching to a possession based game / 4-2-3-1. This has stifled our players because they are simply not suited to it.

- Continuing to play the under-performing seniors. This has been a massive problem this season. Johnson, Skrtel, Lovren and Gerrard have been the crux of the defensive problems this season - and all lack leadership and responsibility.

Sturridge - apparently the only player we've got who can score on a regular basis - being missing for essentially the entire first half of the season hasn't helped either. I wouldn't expect him to make us world beaters or anything, but movement up front and being able to actually put the ball in the net would help upfront a bit. Obviously it's not good to be so reliant on one injury-prone player!

Shocking that we have issues in basically every position bar no 10 right now. Embarrassing how reliant we are on Sturridge. Manquillo - clearly better than GJ - where is he?

IMO we can't really judge those three because they're inexplicably dropped regularly.

Lallana - has done ok but never value for money. Will end up a decent signing.
Markovic - clearly has quality but is still raw. Signs he's clicking now when he comes on. Will succeed here but not this year.

These two are mixed - Lallana is a good little player but his price was too much. For £25m you expect a leader, someone to build around when things are tough.. he patently isn't that but then again he was never going to be. Markovic it's just too early.

Balotelli - due to his profile will define Rodgers' future. Hasn't been our worst performer, should really have a few goals but clearly doesn't fit the team and shouldn't have been signed. Lovren - HA. He can piss off. Criminally bad mistakes regardless of whether he needs a 'leader' or not.

Personally I thought you'd do MU as they are ****e at the back, but like Saints, you didn't take your chances.

Pretty much this. Rodgers tried to change things too much in terms of style/system.

I still believe he wanted to build this team around Gerrard now that suarez left. Getting fast wingers in, fast fullbacks, big target man up front.

We need to be looking in the German market as well. So much quality and at good value. Rodriguez, Trapp, Sakai, Sorg, Howedes, Firmino, Volland.

The continuing problem this season is a direct resuly of 3 things:

Suarez

Our identified frailties last season

The club commitment to buying young players.

I truly believe that BR and FSG expected another season out of Suarez and prepared their transfer plans accordingly. The WC bite changed everything but proved too late for us to change our plans. Now JS moans that we didn't try and replace Suarez like for like - that was/is just bloody impossible. Even now I'm glad we didn't go down that road or we'd have a very expensive flop on our hands.

When you look at our back 4 then please tell me where, on paper did Rodgers/the Committee make any great error. We bought 2 attacking full backs to add to our existing players (Enrique, Flannigan and Johnson). That should have been enough to give us all the cover that we needed.

Lots has been said about Lovren being bought as a 'leader'. BR has never said that and I believe that he caught the eye as a direct replacement for Agger. After all we already had Sakho and Skurtle at the strart of the year plus we had Illori. Our back 4 frailties are nothing new and just maybe we should accept that we actually do have good players but that the coaching is the element that is sadly lacking!

Last season we re-deployed Gerrard and it worked to a degree. We knew that Steve was coming to the end of his career and the purchase of Can was part of the replacement process. Now I don't understand why Rodgers appears reluctant to play Can but I think that it has more to do with needing Gerrard than a flaw in Can's play. For me the biggest failure in our defensive midfield has been Allen - I never did rate him but he's becoming a liability. Henderson too needs a rest just running about a lot but not tackling, passing accurately or shooting is just not enough!

In attacking midfield we have Coutinho and Lallana. Both are clever players but are not blisteringly fast. Both need players to feed but apart from Sterling they have nobody to 'hit'. Even when Sturridge returns he will not, by himself, be the answer. He will need a partner up front. Just maybe Balotelli could then come into his own. Lambert was I believe part of the Lallana/Lovren deal. He may be able to play with Sturridge but I think he's a last 15 minutes bash you way through player. That leaves Markovich who has taken time to settle down but at least has shown a willingness to add some pace to our attacks!

As for our 'coaches' they do have me worried. Even Basel looked fitter than we did! United's players were stronger. Why?

As you are aware, we'll have to add the English premium to his price so you can have him for £3.50. I know it's an inflated price but you're getting English quality.

You don't know Sanchez and neither do I so we can only guess what influence his family has over his decisions. Not every player is totally venal!

I wanted us to buy a player who can come in and fit the style that Rodgers created last season i.e. quick, versatile, presses. Instead, we signed 2 strikers whose game is based on holding up play. Even Remy would have done a decent enough job.

Arsenal is still a bigger draw than Liverpool, despite our impressive finish last season.

They have a world class manager (at least by name), they have a big name in Ozil who can help attract players, they consistently play in CL, plus Wenger had been chasing Sanchez for a while and personally met up with a few times over the summer. Whilst Rodgers was out banging his new Mrs
