    Good stuff Maestro <ok>

Have to say I'm not too knowledgable about
jazz, though I'd like to be. Recommendations always gratefully received.

The 'banter' from Leicester fans was very disappointing and I couldn't be arsed to get involved, so it's music for me now!

As an aside, the first time I went to Leicester (1972 I believe), our coach was smashed to pieces, and one fan was hospitalised. We also had a pretty cold ride home. I've not liked them since, churlish as that may seem. <ok>

Be boring if we all liked the same stuff chris. Or most of us would be suicidal if we all liked Chas 'n' Dave <laugh>

If you want nice easy listening jazz Gandy, try looking for Jacques Loussier on you tube. Lots more Maynard Ferguson on there as well. His version of Hey Jude is pretty awesome as well

    Very true.

Whilst I like a pretty expansive range of musical types, I must admit to being a child of the rave generation - repetitive beats with a piano/keyboard accompanyment do it for me every time! This is about as near to brass instruments as I get Maestro - skip to 0:59 for a flavour of what I mean!!! :smiley-finger007:

(I was going to put trumpet but thought that you would come back and say it was a cornet or something else so I thought better of it!!! :emoticon-0110-tongu )

Used to debate with a friend about MF. Friend was a big Miles Davis fan and thought Ferguson sold out when he came to GB and joined the Fusion revolution going on. He thought MF was just trying to blow his trumpet straight.
Of course Davis "sold out" himself so friend start wearing paisley etc. Can't win can you.
Personally I loved it when the guys joined in with the new stuff. Saw Chick Corea with Return Forever and was mesmerised. Spain is one of my favourite all timers.

Had a mate who was a 'fair' trumpet player. he actually got hold of some of the proper MF arrangements and tried them himself. Sounded more like Strainard than Maynard. Needed a bloody space helmet going that high <laugh>

    Ah oui, J'adore Loussier!

I often wished I'd taken more interest in the piano. It was always the guitar for me, I have a few around that I like to strum in my amateur way, but not like this (sadly):

More of a Bardot man myself.

Once had an exchange student at TGS called Suzanne Hazard who was the spitting image of her. I loved her even when she told me to 'fou le camp' <yikes>

For anyone who is interested, tonight on BBC4 at 5 past midnight, Jazz piano gold is on. It features: Count Baisie, Theolonious Monk, Oscar Peterso, Stan Tracey, Jacques Loussier, Duke Ellington and herbie Hancock.
Think it will be a late one for me tonight. Looking forward to an hour of top jazz piano playing.

I'll be honest, I'm a massive music fan and have a huge collection of all sorts of stuff, but jazz is one genre I've never really tapped into at all. Van Morrison's 'Moondance' is probably about as jazzy as my library gets, I know, that's rubbish.

That said, I'm always open to new things so on the very strong recommendation of you guys I shall be Sky Plussing that to watch another time for sure. Quite excited about it to be honest <ok>
