If you resign you resign.
well technically if you are under contract they could fine you for breaking it I guess.
Its not like players can just say "Ok i am done here, I want to leave" so I assume its the same for managers.

If you resign you resign.

You can hand in a resignation letter but you’re still under contract until it is accepted.

Didn’t see where Kronke said it was a difficult decision anyway, rather he said it was a difficult day.

Like, say, Diego Costa.

Yeah but he'd just pay it.

If I went to my boss and said I'm resigning, they wouldn't decide if I could or not. I'd leave my phone, laptop and keys on the table and **** off to the pub.

Yeah but presumably you aint tied down to a contract term.
Most normal jobs you get a rolling contract that is indefinite until one party decides to terminate it.
With football players and managers sign contracts for a certain amount of time.
Like, say, Diego Costa.

Yeah and he got fine up the arse and had to wait until Atletico bought him from us before he could play again.

Maybe I cocked that up, but difficult surely means there were 2 options - it's an odd choice of words if he wasn't fired? Saddest day, then I'd understand. But I might be reading more into than there is.

"one of the most difficult days we have ever had in all our years in sport".

I agree though, it certainly sounds like he was sacked.
Wenger always said he would never break a contract, so unless he went back on his word, i have to assume the board **** canned him,

Either way he's leaving...

Sad day for all non-Arsenal fans.
yup.
He was the albatross around their necks.
If they get a decent manager who can make this team perform, they have all the minerals to dominate.
Still think their board are gonna hamstring them somewhat though, be interesting to see what kind of transfer budget is awarded to Wenger's replacement

Well that would be entirely congruent with Wenger saying he’s resigning. One of the most difficult days.

Also think it's not an instant turnaround. It'll take them a season or 2 to clear out the deadwood. I doubt the bids for Mustafi and El Neny will come flooding in.

I imagine it was one of those "mutual consent" type deals, ya know , where the board call in the manager to tell him that he is "resigning".

At least two seasons of transition coming up for us. But at least the ball is now rolling.

I doubt it. Kronke would have carried on with Wenger until they had to carry him out in a coffin. This decision would have come from Wenger.

You know what would make me cry, but be completely hilarious, is if he was announced as Chelsea's next manager <laugh>
Might be worth it happening just to see the response on Arsenal fan TV,

Now that would be funny <ok>

Better still would be if he came to Chelsea and won the PL and CL in his first season <laugh>

Three quarters of North London would be on the phone jamming up the Samaritans phone lines.
