We have just booked up. Mate wants to drive it.

So early start, drive to Peterborough. Family room booked. Open return to London and back on the Saturday, stay over, back Sunday.

Not bad, really cost effective and get the best part of a full day/night in London. Not too fused about the Friday night, did that at Wycombe.

We were with @safcyellowbelly at the Museum on Tuesday, he's from Peterborough ...

... I expect he'll be going.

Just had this message if anyone's interested, @Whittylad perhaps?

"Anyone interested in a helicopter flight to London for the Championship Final?
We need one more person to accompany our small group of 3.
We leave early on Saturday morning 24th of May (about 10) from the Riverside Sports Ground at Chester le Street, straight down to land at Northolt but we’ll take in some sights on the way, maybe York Minster, or follow some of the coaches down the A1 for a laugh, we’ll fly alongside.
We already have a car sorted to take us straight to Covent Garden, they’ll take our bags to the hotel and we’ll get them later.
Preferably we’d like someone with a helicopter and 4 tickets for Wembley otherwise we can’t go."

EMR line is shut for maintenance that weekend so I’ll be heading in from Peterborough. Double check the trains as some will get you in in about 45 mins and others will take best part of an hour and half, often no price difference

The 45 main ones are all full though ain't they as coming from north east. The hour and more ones are not and have availability.

We have booked the our one from Peterborough at 10.03. On the way back there are no direct trains I don't think , all full. That said , I am not too familiar with that route. So hopefully there are plenty of options to get back to Peterborough as I have an open return.

Yeah that's what I have booked too. Not sure about getting back options like. They are all 1.31 hours !
St Pancras to Peterborough every half hour mate. 16 and 46 minutes past the hour and last train leaves 2346 by look of it so plenty time to get back if you want a few celebratory sherbets.

Assume that's where you'll be going into if you've booked Thameslink / Great Northern same as me.

I use that line quite often for work you can just get on if you don’t mind the stand and squashing on an open return
