Apparently.

Wallet was under the bed, crisis averted. The hotel is some weird art deco style place about 20 mins from the national stadium. We're here to watch a training match between a local side semi pro side and HJK (sort of behind closed doors, but people who know about it/who can be arsed can go along, it's low profile and hasn't been advertised for obvious reasons). Which is indoors at an arena nearby. I'll try get some pics up if I can.

I haven't seen the Sun for ages, but it looks pretty epic at night, it's quite strange because in a weird way it reminds me a little of New York in terms of layout. Without the skyscrapers and constant muggings.

I watched The Revenent tonight, you're soft as ****. Are you sure you are an apprentice scout and not a girlie guide? Just wondering. :emoticon-0105-wink:

It doesn't help that I had done 0 research on the weather before I set off for the airport. I have one jacket and it's from River Island, it is about 5 years old and it might as well be made of cotton curtains. It's **** and cold. I'm off for a kip.

Ok, let's clear some things up.

Finland are playing Iceland on January 12th. It'll be ****ing cold, obviously. But they're made of stronger stuff over there, I'm sure it'll be fine.

You don't need any qualifications to be a scout, you just need a good eye for the game and know how to spot a good footballer. .

Be airport savvy - it turns out that the pilot on a recent trip to Helsinki was a bit of a magician, after walking up the steps onto the aeroplane he vanished into FinnAir.

One of the pilots had been listening to the voice of The Devil emanating from the drain in his kitchen.

He wished he'd never moved to Helsinki.

Tomorrow can only be better, Sterling. <laugh>

Like I said, crossed wires, that wasn't what we were going to watch (we weren't going to watch Finland at all, we were going TO Finland).

I'm not too happy, but at least it's paid for, well the flights are anyway.

Jesus, you really are a teacher! What weather did you expect in Helsinki? Have you packed shorts, budgie smugglers and suncream <laugh>

*Kicks mankini under the bed.*

Erm. No?

On the plus side, the birds are pretty fit. Until they speak. The accent is weird, it's like a Japanese mans voice but monotone. There was a Simpsons sketch ages ago with a Russian Itchy and Scratchy rip off, it's a bit like that.

I remember when I was in New York and my bed mugged me.

Anyone else think Sterlings been duped??

He's gonna get bummed isnt he. By a team of those worlds strongest men types.

Sterling needs to get out of there. He could be in the middle of one of those Scandinavian murder detective sagas.

He's not the scout in this. He's the one who has been scouted.

Should be; then he might focus on the details of the trip, rather than the detail on the hotel quilt. But hey-ho, just think of the marvellous story he can tell the bairns after assembly; this is how Tin Tin started, it will probably be a gruff, heavily bearded sea captain does the deed.

Only Finnish girl I ever went out with was when I was in Lancaster in 1961. Was in digs with a young Norwegian and Finnish guy who both worked at the same place as myself. The Finn went out with her but when he went back to Finland I jumped in for a while. She was a stunner!
Before the Norwegian left he invited me over to his home in Stavanger. I went there for a couple of weeks in 1962 and he took me into Sweden for a few days. Wanted to see Finland but Iron Curtain was down. It is the only Scandinavian country I have not visited.

I ****ed up, but it's my bad, that apparently wasn't the game we were watching at all <doh>

I was also told that the way I did the scouting was totally wrong and consequently all the stuff I'd done was a bit pointless. Which is gutting because I thought I'd been really detailed, but then he showed me a sample one of a made up player and it was mental. I don't think this is going to be the cakewalk I imagined.
Honestly, don't let that get you down. Learn, adapt, move on. Anything worthwhile is always a slog too.

Plus, you're in Finland! It might be a ****hole, it might be awesome, but, you've seen it and experienced it, that's worth it alone.
