Weekend Debate

The Gerrard question is seriously scares me. He is just like Lampard and given a big job he couldn’t do. He did a great job at Rangers but questions on the standard and how much he was responsible? He did have a 68% win ratio but at Villa that fell off a Cliff and just like Marsch who had a 69% ratio in Austria when he went to Germany it fell off a Cliff to 37% just like Gerrard so scary out of the frying pan stuff. Nuno however has been consistent throughout his career
This is why I’d like someone with at least a reasonable win percentage at PL level. The PL is different it catches you out, having a small squad and being too set in his ways caught Bielsa out. Jesse was caught out too be it his lack of coaching at a higher level

Why would Thomas Frank leave Brentford for us? I dunno why he is even being mentioned as a plausible solution.

Same with Kompany.

I'd say I don't want to be disrespectful towards certain members of the fanbase but... There are certain members who are beyond ****ING deluded. They've got ideas of Grandeur from the Revie and O'Leary days. People are to come to us because we're Leeds and that's the reason they need. McGiligan is the biggest one with a media presence I can see.

Might be an out of the box one but what about A.V. B. ? He's got both Premier League and international experience and is currently out of a job after he had a pop at the Marseille board.
Thought the same yesterday mate I would have no problems with him…

Honestly I think he might actually be perfect for us. Since Spurs he's managed in Russia, China, and France. He's had big club experience with Porto and Chelsea. We don't need to pay another club to gain his services and he's been out of English management for 10 years so he's become obscure enough for us to pick him up plus the younger fans who really have a clue on who he is,

I’m sure the same would have been felt with Bielsa going to a lowly Championship side. Not to mention £4.5m a year compared to £1.5m

Completely different scenario. Bielsa was out of work. Would he have walked out on Bilbao to come to us in February?

Absolutely not.

We as fans can see the potential of this club, in fact I'd go as far to say we vastly overestimate the potential of this club in the current world of football. Outsiders don't see us as a huge global club. Even if I was Thomas Franks personal advisor I'd tell him to stay at Brentford. Same with Kompany, they are on the crest of a wave, we are...erm...on an 18 month hellish run of results.

You could even go as far as Slot at Feyenoord and Iraola at Vallecano. They should stay where they are as they are on the cusp of doing something great where they are. We are not the catch of the century that alot of us think we are.

We’ll have to agree to disagree on Thomas.

£1.5m a year compared to £4.5m wages

A far greater fan base meaning you don’t always sell your top talent and when you do you can spend in excess of £160m building your team.

On the verge of the 49ers taking control so finances set to get even better.

I think anyone feeling Brentford is a better gig than Leeds United needs to give their head a wobble

He’s going to be 50 this year, when does he want the challenge or step up

Correct.....sad to admit as once upon a time we where the catch you say, and for some unfathomable reason the real mega rich don't seem to want to take a punt....let me see what's at the back of the sofa ;)

The flip side is that he's 50 and probably feels he has a job as long as he wants at Brentford.

If he came here, he might only last until summer. Even if he does well, the new owners might want to go their own way.

He should 100% stay where he is. It's the sensible decision.

Is that what motivates a coach having a job for life, I’m sure most want a bit more excitement then plodding through

It's up to the individual. He might want out at 55.

Plus, if we can't buy out the 7 million to Vallecano, how the hell can we buy his contract out at Brentford AND give them compensation AND give him big wages?

It’s not we can’t afford to, it’s that he has to buy it out himself and Leeds can’t give him the money too as we’ve not been given permission to speak to him. That’s what the mess and complications are, it’s not a straightforward release fee

Get a bank loan and we pay him a signing on fee

I see now Marsch has gone, it’s ok to say we played well and were unlucky.

Ultimately for all our promise and endeavour it generally takes us too many chances to score relative to the opposition at this level. Been the same all season.

Even Roy Keane said if Leeds had played with that intensity against Forest they’d have won

They did in the first half and had enough clear opportunities to win 3 games comfortably. However, Sinisterra, Bamford and Gnonto couldn't finish off relatively easy chances. Today it was Summerville that failed at an easy chance.

It's irrelevant who is in charge, or what system you play. Until our strike players start hitting the net, we won't win any games.
