While I've argued it's a penalty all day long I think James Pearce needs to pull his tongue out of salahs ringpiece because he was definitely to blame for such an over reaction.

It's not just him at it they all are abd Its been happening for too long..

Part of the problem is that most of the time players have to go down to get a penalty. If that foul happened on the half way line as part of a counter attack then even without Salah going down the ref would give a free and likely a yellow card.

Part of the solution is refs treating offences the same no matter where they happen on the pitch.

Yep, and that's why it was a penalty.

This. This is a match we could and would have won easily without any diving whatsoever. Having watched the replays there was a fleeting touch on Salah ‘s shoulder. Not enough to pull him back .He dived conning the referee. The definition of cheating used by the pundits and ex players in the media. He has to sort himself otherwise he will enhance a bad reputation as a diver. To blame the award on a conspiracy AGAINST us is really bizarre and paranoid. We just need to put our own house in order.
Just astro being astro.

Imo if you can stay up you should it's called sportsmanship which sadly doesn't exist in football.

I think there's got to be some allowance for the ref to use his own judgement personally.

The question remains though.........if Salah hadn't gone down but lost possession because of the pull back would the ref have given the pen?

We don't know we never will , but imo the ref could've not given it even though he did go down and nobody would have complained alot.

I've said all along its a penalty im just saying I don't like players going down like that, leaving their foot in etc whether it's in or out the box... ultimately it's the players in control the ref can only do his best .... Even with VAR they can make calls people don't agree with it's not possible to avoid controversy .

In my own personal opinion I would prefer no foul for minor incidents liked this anywhere on the pitch , just let then game flow but my opinion matters not it's a foul and it's therefore s penalty.

Same as cook against bournemouth when he was tackled dirty, but because salah stayed on his feet and scored cooke got away with a disgusting challenge.
It was an awful, cynical challenge that could have seriously injured Salah............how the hell did that go unpunished?

And we’re now level on goal difference with City ...

doesn't mean anything being level right now since we're ahead on points. so goal difference only comes into it if we drop points compared to man city. and if we do that our goal difference goes down anyway so we would be behind on goal difference if it came to that. great position to build on though and shows that man city winning with huge scorelines early in the season didn't mean much.

I see man united fans arrogance has returned! They've won two games and think they're going to win the champions league now .

There's a youtuber called goldbridge and he's got.it inducing .

Said exavrly the same thing. It’s a soft pen but how many of those little tugs do you see on the half way line to stop a counter? All the time and as you say it’s a yellow. Salah doesn’t go down its not a pen as refs won’t give fouls if people don’t fall over. Catch 22 and refs aren’t helping themselves in that case as they are saying to players you need to exaggerate things and fall over to get the foul.

Media only like to make an issue out of things when we benefit from them it seems.

Having an ex manc and everton player asked if it was a dive prooves that theory.

They never even made a big deal out of cooke disgusting challenge yet we had bollocks about salah retro punishment!!!

Seem to be selective on that ****e as well.
