Sky has experienced a 12 per cent increase on the same period last season, while BT Sport figures for top-flight English football have soared by 18 per cent.

BT Sport’s Champions League viewer numbers are up a staggering 26 per cent year on year.

If I’m not mistaken, Sky had started splitting their pre-match coverage into a separate “programme” so it made it appear like games were more watched on average.

Not sure about BT though it’s probably no coincidence that it went free for EE customers.

I'm an EE customer and I've never managed to get the bastard thing to work.
