It feels like a bottomless pit of money right now, I get laughed at for suggesting the value of our squad is close to 200 million, but I'd back myself any day, especially today.

Personally think we are looking at close to 100 million for the two teens in the middle, especially considering add ons and sell ons, etc. I can't put a price on them, because it's like stocks, they're moving all the time.

    Taking Rigg and Jobe out;

Patta - is easy worth £10 million, for me, I also think some teams would pay that plus a sell on
Cirkin - if he stays fit for the rest of this season and keeps his form, you're looking at closer to 20 than 10.
Hume - I think someone again would pay close to 10 million for the lad.
O'Nien - hard to value O'Nien, but ya could easy get 5 mill for him, which is probably a tenth of what he's worth to this city.
Ballard - before this summer, I'd have said 15 mill, but his stock has plummeted, so closer to 10.
Alese - I wouldn't sell for less than 5 mill even with the injuries.
Huggins - is worth nothing, but if he's fit the last 6 months, I'd be raving about him being worth 8 figures.
Neil - I think he's worth £15-20 million all in, but I do feel his progress has stalled, maybe its his limitations? Might end up being the lower end of that value.
Roberts - is worth at least £5 million
Mundle - I reckon he's worth about £10 mill already
Mayenda - well, we've made our money back...

    I'll stop there.

Huggins could easily be a £10million player, were he not made out of fairy ****.

We are still a hot ticket scouting wise, Rigg seems to be the talk of the town scouting wise - tbh he has been for a while.

Cirkin def getting a lot of admirers from what I was told

Jobe has some massive clubs looking at him, i heard Bayern were one of them but not sure on the source

Mayenda impressed scouts at the start of the season

Hume has growing interest in him from Germany I'm told

Neil did have a lot of interest but unsure if he has the same interest

Young is another who a lot of teams are looking at, still hearing City are keen and have had a couple bids knocked back in the past

The value in our squad is unreal, we have 2 potential £40 million players in Jobe n Rigg, another in Neil that is likely to get close to £20 million (obviously left of contract will impact this now).

Mundle could easily go over £20 million, but need to judge better later in the season

We then have a few £10 million plus players - Patterson, Hume, Cirkin

Then you look at the potential of watson, young, mayenda, alese, isidor and aleskic who could all be 10 million plus players

My valuations would be way of as I put a £30 million "don't want to lose them" tax on them.

I'm just enjoying them while I can before some go onto real big clubs.

My hope is we keep them this year, secure promotion to the premier league and enjoy a season of them there before they go off to the biggest clubs in Europe

I have a very good friend who has connections in the agent world. He told me last year about the Neil interest. He doesnt say much when we are together and I rarely ask tbh but has said since Speakman landed we are a serious club to deal with.

We are off for a couple of days golfing next Thurs/Fri. The overnight stay will involve plenty of good red. Who knows what he may hint at later in the evening. We do talk footy as we played together for a few years. The reason I mention it is he always gets me something to auction for the local kids teams. He is bringing me a signed Harry Kane Bayern shirt this time. He must have had some good contacts there so if he has enough of the old red he may let slip. I will then share on the private forum to keep his secrets <laugh>

Haha class, I know an agent but he's just starting out so I don't really ask him much but he was involved with sunderland in the summer so told me snippets

We have a great reputation with young players in particular at the minute, a lot of clubs are watching n copying what we are doing - who would have thought that 5 yrs ago

Love where we are going as a club

Seems like it might get more difficult to buy in talented young lads the more successful we are. The selling clubs will start to go 'hang on a minute' and reevaluate the player we are keen on. The asking price will go up - kind of a Sunderland young player signing tax. By then, I hope we will have attracted and nurtured a good number of future stars through our academy.

Signed a new 3 year deal in 2023 taking him to 2026

Agree with Jobe and Rigg being the headliners. I’d expect us to get £30m up front for each of them, possibly more depending on clauses/add ons.

Patterson - £6m - strange one because I don’t really rate him at all but he’s English so we’ll probably get a decent fee just for someone to sit him on the bench every week. When you play out from the back you need a keeper that’s great with his feet, Patterson isn’t. And when you struggle with set pieces you want a keeper commanding his box, he doesn’t. I think he’s easily replaceable.

    Cirkin £16m
    Hume £12m

Cirkin is the best LB in the league imo, Hume very good on the other side. Hume has international experience and I believe he’s already captained NI so that will push his value up. He does have him moments though and dives in far too easy. Works out sometimes but also leaves us exposed more often than not. Honourable mention to Huggins because I really think he could be better than Hume on the right but I’m starting to worry about the type of injuries he’s picking up and if his body will ever be up to it.

    Ballard £15m
Has everything you want in a CB, plus the international captaincy. Going off similar fees paid for other CB’s at this level

    Neil £10m
I think he’s a good player at this level but I don’t think he’ll be a great player if he steps up. Struggled as the 6 so far and isn’t great in front of goal meaning he can only really play as the 8 and 8s are in abundance these days. If he was asked to play as the 6 in the PL against better teams I think he would get ran all over.

    Mundle
£12-15m age is on his side and he looks to be a decent finisher of the ball especially when cutting in but not sure he’s as good carrying the ball as some of the other wingers we’ve seen.

    Roberts
£3m - almost 28 so not really going to improve, still has the same frustrations as always. One week unplayable the next he has brain fog whenever he’s within 10 yards of the opponent box. One of the most frustrating players I’ve ever watched but I guess that’s why he’s at Sunderland and not really stepped up to the top level.

Isidor - £10m+ - from what I’ve seen so far we’ll be exercising our option to sign him. Rapid, good movement, notched a few goals already. Fancy him to really kick on once the squad are a properly gelled.

Ba - £2m - disappointed he’s disappeared into the 21s to be honest I still think there’s a very good player there. Would’ve liked us to have loaned him out rather than waste him in kids football

Alese - £2m - haven’t seen anywhere near enough of him to make a call. Looked alright first few games of the season but another that seems to have brittle bones and can’t stay fit.

On the keeper subject, which I know has been done to death, we've gone down the road before with underestimating our keeper and believing we can easily replace him. Then been bitten very very badly.

It's all about opinions and he splits them but personally I think he's a very good keeper at this level. Does he have weaknesses and moments where he looks like he's about to lose it? Definitely but so do most keepers.

His reflexes and shot stopping alone make him a valuable asset. Certainly for a team who plays from the back and doesn't need Pickford style 50yd passes.

I agree on th rest though :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Neil and Patto need to move on for the sake of his career, as said they've topped out their potential here and need to push on at the highest level.

Not convinced they'll be the next Henderson and Pickford but I think they deserve a go.

Mundle worth keeping to see how high he'll rise both as a player and as an asset.

Cirkin and Ballard are fantastic players who would already be bombing around the premier league if it wasn't for injuries.

Ballard's knee has been a problem from an early age. We're proving that it can be managed but it will affect his value.

I don't know enough about Tom Watson, for a minute I thought we'd bought Wilson Isildor. Had to delete three paragraphs.

Finally I hope players like Adil Aouchiche and Jewison Bennette get a quick painless exit. I hope they go on to succeed elsewhere.

We do have an option for Isidor to be fair, so providing he’s half decent this season he’ll be ours.

Whenever I see clips of the 21s Watson always looks decent but a bloke I talk to who gets in the gym goes to pretty much every match and he’s not too keen on him.

Assuming we get promoted this season, which is looking more likely by the week, Premier League status would inflate some of these prices further. Honestly, I don't think £40 million would be enough to prise Jobe or Rigg off of us if we were Premier League. I could also see us buying Amad if we get promoted.

Mad isn't it than in a little over 4 years we now have players potentially worth more than what was paid to buy the entire club

In 4 years, and still some fans find a reason to complain :emoticon-0114-dull:

I genuinely feel like Jobe is north of £30m now. We are quarter of a season deep so we can say ‘he’s added consistency’.

He’s been at least an 8 most games with several 9 & even a couple 10s. He has been another level.

It’s benefitted us that Rigg being 17 has taken some limelight of Jobe, being a 19 year old codger.

If Rigg hadn’t cemented the place (don’t forget he didn’t start season first 11), Jobe's name would be all over Sky and we’d be frantically battling to keep him in January.

The beautiful thing is these lads want to be here right now. They buzz off each other and they love the trust and responsibility.

I don’t see us losing players to Southampton, Brentford etc. They all enjoy the crowds and react and interact with the fans.

When they go, it’s gonna be to clubs that can offer all of that. The list gets smaller.

    United
    Liverpool
    Spurs
    Newcastle
    Villa
    City
    West Ham
    Arsenal

These are for me the ‘threat’ clubs for our top players. Add some big Euro clubs.

How many of those are in the January market for a backup? Likely only West Ham.

I think with values of our players, you have to look at what deals are being done between the Championship clubs and Premiership ones and work from there, nobody is paying £40m for a Championship player unless they are established internationals or have somehow proved they can play at a very elite level already ie a relegated side.

We saw this a bit with Jack Clarke, it was obvious to everyone on here he is worth £20m but we could only get that after add-ons because he is/was untested at that level.

The record for a player going from Championship to Premiership without top level experience is Ollie Watkins at £28m, Jude went from Birmingham to Dortmund for £25m, I'd argue this is the absolute cap as things stand.
