They should never involved themselves in U.S.A politics, especially when there was a distinct possibility that Trump could be elected again. It was naive at best and idiotic at worst.

That said,it was always Trumps mission(if he were elected) to introduce huge tariffs on imports but our relationship with America may have allowed us some leeway, that looks a forlorn hope now.

I remember some of our products got roped in when he put tariffs on EU things but now we are out of that. Do we sell them stuff they could tariffs on?

It was absolutely ridiculous that they put themselves in this position. A lot of humble pie needs to be eaten by lammy especially. Re the tariffs, I think the UK as a whole will be ok, if nothing more then the fact trump is wanting to build/expand his golf courses over here, plus as much as he won't admit it publicly, the USA likes/needs the UKs support.

The idiots in charge over here are just going to have to grow up and do what's best for the country they where unfortunately elected to serve

Okay, I've looked and although there hasn't yet been a public announcement, it seems Harris has called Trump to concede the election.

That being the case, and to give any late comers a chance to comment, as the election is over I propose to close this thread at noon today.

Sky news have just announced it

What does it say about the 45% of Hispanics who voted for, him and the large number of blacks in places like Detroit whose votes swung it his way? They will appreciate being told they are thick morons.
Harris saying she lost because Americans don’t understand economics. Maybe she should have discussed them and her plans for the economy instead of just grinning inanely and waving whilst saying Trump isn’t very good so vote for me. She said they had to put right what had gone on in the previous 10 years. She does realise her party was in charge for 6 of those years?

Who said they were thick or morons?

I understood exactly what her plans were for the economy, she was very clear on it, people just didn't listen because Trump's message of "I'll make everything better, you'll see" just got through louder.

They'll pay for it, unfortunately, but then such is the way with people like him. They do everything to get what they want, then there's no substance when they get in. I just hope for their sake there isn't another pandemic.

Eh, it’s nuanced. Certain demographics would never vote for him in significant numbers. Young white women, black women, LGBT people and certain Hispanic groups for example would never. Young white men, a significant amount of young black men and Cuban-Americans in Florida definitely vote for him. His main support base is white Gen X and Boomers though.

A good thread on it.

Lol I can't see that happening. Doesn't seem very popular up there.

I’ve no doubt the ‘special relationship’ between us and the US will continue but Labour were really reckless in their rhetoric about this election. Having members go to the US to canvass for Harris (a federal crime) and some cabinet ministers’ comments. Farage is the same though. That prick’s done more work for Trump in the last few months than his actual job in the UK representing his constituents.

Only with the local people close to the courses ( the same as pretty much any local construction) They'll get built imo as it creates jobs and a lot of ££ for the local economy

He'll be the next UK PM. Bannon, Miller et al have got Trump into power, their attentions will now turn to us.

Well my point is he's not in the party, so why would they have any sympathy for him?

Trump is the leader of the party, is a convicted felon and rapist (and also a potential Epstein customer), yet his supporters made him president. What does that say about American, Christian conservatives?

the "convicted felon" stuff was all political and all done with bent judges and bent prosecutors. every conviction was timed for the election run-up to put people off voting, but people over there have clearly watched what happened in court, or didn't care, rather than just reading the headlines in the guardian or independent. i'm going to assume you've never looked closely at any of the indictments and cases, because if you ever did, even a virtual commie like you would have seen they were all bollocks. where and who was the victim in the new york fraud case? how can they get a fraud conviction when nobody was defrauded? they tried to make out that mar-a-lago, a 17 acre oppulently decorated property in palm beach - where properties currently sell for $60m PER ACRE - was only worth $18m when trump applied for the loan c.2012. get real.

as for convicted rapist, that's another left wing lie. listen, if he's as bad as you say, why don't you actually list some of what his real issues are instead of lying all the time? or can't you find anything bad enough? it completely spears everything else you say when you just repeat these lies. trump is NOT a convicted rapist. he was found guilty of sexual assault in a CIVIL kangaroo court by a woman who didn't even know what year the alleged assault took place. get real.

and he was never an "epstein customer", so don't pull that crap.

you just come over as a know-nothing loudmouth that hasn't done any research.

anyway, i hope your football team does something good over the next four years to alleviate your misery a little.

Id say leave it a little longer, let's have a day's reaction to it as at noon things will still be happening etc....unless obviously the usual suspects start.

The cold hard truth is
Majority of amercian voters wont vote for a woman president

Yeah, Jon Stewart said it best, "the losing side just don't learn their lesson".

The Democrats want to win on a platform of niceties and professionalism, the Republicans just took a "win at all costs" stance and it broke through to the "bro culture" of the USA, the Joe Rogan/UFC fans and the like. Basically, they just acted like they do online where was the Democrats just tried to appeal like every other politician, they haven't updated their tactics or researched into what modern American culture is actually like now.

They'll have to switch up for the next election, otherwise it'll be pretty grim for them in years going forward.

Unless it all goes tits up between now and then I think we can give ourselves a pat on the back. It's mostly been OK with few angry rants or personal attacks.
The poll up top ended 50/50
So in my best impersonation of the old bloke at the end of are you being served

Well done everybody.

but NOT a career politician. and NOT part of the "deep state". i like the effect he has. it's like when wimbledon got into division one here and didn't pay attention to any of the niceties and respect the other teams expected.

one of the major evils, possibly the worst, in the world is the world banks. they need annihilating. they've arranged wars for the last 110 years and profited whichever side won and they've used the cia for regime change. i want them gone. there's enough resources in the world for everyone, but not everyone gets them. if trump doesn't kill off the world banks, nobody ever will, and the world will continue suffering like it has since these banks started running the world.

Come on.... Trump has assets of over a billion dollars and is supported by the richest man in the world... He really isn't going to kill off any banks or change the world order. He's going to provide some amusing interviews, wacky decisions and infuriate those we like seeing infuriated. His last presidency showed exactly what he will do.

Corbyn threatened to disrupt the world order and didn't win.

Issue is if they do switch it up, the Republicans will gleefully point to them and say "You always criticised us for doing this". They can't win either way.
