I came across some absolute lunatics recently on SM, who are part of a US group - who’ve got ‘chapters’ around the globe (including the U.K.), who peddle the notion that we should all be drinking unpasteurised milk, and eating bucket loads of saturated fat. That’s literally the aim of their organisation, truly as weird as ****. Your post reminded me of them.

There are some truly weird people and they walk among us
There is so much information available as to what is good and bad for us to eat that it can be confusing
My view is eat everything I enjoy that doesn't harm me but in moderation

Actually he wasn’t but he thought he was. First time I’ve mentioned it since he fooked off but it’ll be the last. The place is far better without him and Tubby.

After years of claiming remainers/crazed lefties, don't respect democracy, the fat pervert is now bleating daily, about the US election, being a fraud.

“Maybe you do not care much about the future of the Republican Party. You should. Conservatives will always be with us.
If conservatives become convinced that they can not win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism. The will reject democracy.”
― David Frum, former speechwriter for George W. Bush.

Very accurate too in this case if one changes conservative to republican. Although, I would argue Trumpers aren't conservative. (They are populists). Trump-Republicans aren't really conservative. There isn't really a major politically conservative party in the US any more.

I know people who voted Trump that don't like him and hate his politics but they've always voted Republican and against democrats.

My father-in-law is one. He HATES Trump and what he has done to the Republican party. He still voted for him though because he votes a straight party republican ticket in every election because that's what his family always does. (Except my wife who is becoming extremely left-wing as she gets older).

It's funny, I've sat in the centre and watched my wife over the years slide from way to my right, to way to my left over our marriage.

Or the UK. The Conservative and Unionist Party have no interest in conserving anything, including the union.
Populist right-wing Cult of Personality leaders are dominating at the moment, for some reason.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with the Republicans after Biden becomes President.
Do they stick with Trump, even though he lost? Does Trump go it alone and start his own party if they do?
Does Mitt Romney try to take them back to pre-Trumpism? It's all looking rather messy.

Yeah British conservative party looks nothing like I remember it either... Seems very "American" style party now.

I don't think Mitt will redirect the party. Yes, he's very old-style Republican but he's been painted as the bad guy by the Trump wing he would be seen as too controversial a figure by many (even if they like him).

I think someone like a Jeb Bush would have a better chance if anyone can redirect the party. Politically he isn't that far from Romney, but he hasn't been vilified as much and has a famous last name.

If Trump forms his own party it will either cannibalise the Republican party, or fail miserably and guarantee Democrat wins. The US political system can't really support 3 main parties. Structure is all wrong for that.

What worries me most is that, for all the corruption we've seen, and all the abuse of power. No one has talked about solving some of the loop holes that has been where the President can essentially take over all three branches of government.

You would think the Democrats would see this as important because... Well Trump.
You would think Republicans would see this as important because they're about to lose the Presidency.

Noone is talking about fixing the problems that we've seen. The presidency was never intended to be as powerful as it has become. It's scary that the wrong man could do so much damage. Imagine the damage Trump could have done if he were competent and not such a blowhard. Someone more charismatic than Trump could end democracy in the US following the Trump model.
