your terminology is sometimes ill thought out and sick when not based on the true full facts where they are applicable
I find it hard to put into words but there's something in me that resents having statues removed. It's our history warts and all.

And now the classic film Gone With The Wind is also being withdrawn and there were thousands of people in Oxford demanding the removal of a statue of Cecil Rhodes, who for those who don't know their history was a founder of Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe. I hope BLM UK will therefore be taking issues with the likes of Idi Amin, Robert Mugabe, and all of the other African dictators and oppressors over the years who subjected their own people to starvation and torture ? Or is that part all going to be ignored ?
I've worked hard and have paid hundreds of thousands of pounds in Tax and NI over the past 40 years to have no voice and be worthy of no opinion, and to be made to feel like a second class citizen in the 21st century in my own country and city, where effectively white, middle aged, peace loving, law abiding, tax paying, people don't matter, but the rabbles opinion does.

I like the way things are going we are getting more multicultural. However if forced like with the removal of statues can unfortunately allow racism to rear its head again. Which is the last thing 99% of the population want.

Debate it and remove them by all means. But not mob rules way to do it, that only incites the opposition to do something as well.
However the one thing that has occurred, is we’ve moved on from staying home, protect the NHS mantra to let’s all go out and gather in large numbers. This virus has a strong chance now of having a second spike.

Or maybe it's that we appreciate our history and want to hold on to it whether others approve of it or not. No one is glorying in it, but as I've said, you can't change it either.
Frankly I don't care what others think, but there are a lot of people in this world, in positions of power at home and abroad, who need to put their own house in order once this latest hoo-ha has died down. As for Sadiq Khan and Marvin Rees they're toadying makes me sick.
I'm particularly thinking of black community leaders in places like London who imho could do an awful lot more to steer kids away from the Gang, Knife, Drugs culture that's become such an epidemic. If BLM, then do something worthwhile Community Leaders !
Latest historic individual brought up for slave trading this morning on the BBC, Sir Francis Drake, along with Oliver Cromwell and Winston Churchill,tear them all down and brushstroke them out of history, whilst mugging up on Stalin, Mao Tse-Tung, Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez,Xi Jingping, it's becoming a crazy world.
Slavery is criminal and despicable, changing history, why don't we forget Hitler and Mussolini after all, they are part of world history, it's a complete nonsense but what will be, will be.

And by the same token maybe it's my generation of a certain age not getting it either. We're both so sure of our opinions but as ever, to an outsider looking in with no bias, there is probably an element of truth to both of our opinions.
And on that, it's good to see both sides, even if I disagree with a lot of the opposition. And I mean that genuinely.
Maybe future kids of my generation will consider us right wing
But that's it wiz, no one is rewriting it at all. We're even suggesting getting the statue out and putting it in the M-Shed so it can be seen for years to come, to educate people in the future.
And that's where the Savile comment comes in. Taking down a tribute to him, or to Colston, isn't rewriting history, it's just reflecting our updated view on it. What both of them did, good, bad, ugly, or whatever, will be remembered, just not celebrated. I certainly wouldn't extend that treatment to Churchill - regardless of his views, what he did for this country is unparalleled. Damaging any tribute to him is disgusting.
And as I've said already, I've backed down on my initial stance - the statue shouldn't have been torn down. The precedent it sets is very dangerous. But I enjoyed the symbolism of it personally, that's all.

You can bundle that in with statements like 'when is international mens day' and 'when is straight pride'. It's obvious why it's BLM.
In an age where everyone everywhere is now suddenly screaming for equal rights, justice, and to erase culture and history it's a little distasteful to support just one element. Anyone remember the lack of a proper outcry or rioting against British Extremists in our own back yard when soldier Lee Rigby was hacked to death ? Were people going down on one knee for him ? No, they didn't
