It may well do clingo, but you're in the majority me included who regard football as a sport. We all know that these days and at this level, it's far from it.

    You're quite right Clingo.

However it appears that the responsibility in all of this is still to be clearly defined.

As Sparks has pointed out VT does not like conceding defeat and will fight his corner for as long as it takes.

If only it could be as simple as jumpers for goalposts but in the industry that is multi billion pound football that is not the case as much as we would like it to be so.

Many have suffered in this longstanding, complex, very sad set of circumstances, Sala most of all, his family, Nantes and us. I don't include the pilot, the agent or the plane owner as they were all party to the problem.

If only some sort of compromise can made to bring this to a close and provide some sort of satisfaction to the remaining parties that is the best that can be expected.

    I'm not holding my breath.

I had to read that article again as I couldn’t believe it first time round.

So Tan & Co are going to sue Nantes for damages for £000m’s based on the opinion of Neil Warnock that Sala’s “goals” would have kept City up.

That is just ridiculous and not ever going to succeed. In fact it’s embarrassingly ludicrous.

They certainly didn't act for us.

Hindsight is the only perfect science but if only City had insisted he caught commercial flights. I wonder if there is any audit trail, emails, recorded conversations etc on this?

VT must have something other than word of mouth to justify his continued actions.

A hundred million. That’s a lot of dosh.

Sounds like we’re blasting with all barrels and hoping to get a settlement somewhere in the middle.
I wouldn’t hold my breath on any agreement soon.

The problem is of course, that the longer this drags on the lesser chance we have of having the embargo lifted. Lamouchi and Tan met last week and nothing has been released about what was said. Was Sabri offered the job? Did he accept it? Were his conditions accepted or has he been told he will have to operate on scraps again next season. And if so will he walk away?

The sooner this is sorted the quicker we can plan for next season. However I have a gut feeling we’ll all be biting our nails and living off Rennies in just under a years time.

I thought the problem was with Nantes and not Rennes?

    Too quick by far FfB.

Is there a club called Alka-Seltzer? Sounds a bit Austrian.

    Club Statement | 30/06/23 | Cardiff (cardiffcityfc.co.uk)

Today, FIFA ordered Cardiff City FC to pay the 2nd and 3rd instalments of the transfer fee for Emiliano Sala to FC Nantes as expected.
Yesterday the CEO of FC Nantes, Franck Kita, was placed into police custody alongside Bakari Sanogo and Joaquim Batica by the JIRS, French prosecutors specialised in organised crime and financial crime. A judicial investigation was opened in June 2022 on the counts of "illegal exercise of sports agent activity, forgery and use of forgery, misuse of corporate assets, laundering of aggravated tax evasion and organised money laundering". The Club's negligence claim in France against FC Nantes exhibits direct exchanges showing Mr Kita was informing Mr Sanogo of the proposed transfer fee for Emiliano Sala. It is not clear why.

In the circumstances, the Club considers that it would have been fairer if the requirement to pay FC Nantes had been deferred until the conclusion of the French police investigations and the club's claim against FC Nantes in the French courts.

    That changes the picture.
Probably gives more power to Tan's elbow.
    Still unsavoury from us.
    Increasingly so from Nantes.

Bloody pathetic tools at FIFA again.

Pay Nantes 15m euros to cover the crooks' legal bills.

So possibly strengthens our case v Nantes but costs Tan big bucks in the meantime which he may not get back.

Looks like FIFA are just following through on the contractual issues of the matter by imposing the payment schedule following the CAS decision on "player ownership". The legal (illegal?) actions of those responsible at Nantes regarding the financial wrongdoings at the club looks to be a very different matter and beyond FIFA's remit.

Although City will probably need to pay up pretty quickly or have a further embargo imposed by FIFA and consequently the EFL, I can't help feeling these latest revelations around those running Nantes is going to have a positive impact on City's legal action against them in the longer term.

From the wording of the club statement, I'd have thought Vince would have been well aware that this FIFA demand would be imminent, but be pretty happy with the overall prospects of getting at least some it back through the legal courts rather than the football tribunals.

Just read the French court that heard the initial submissions over City's claim against Nantes have now set the case to be heard in the second quarter of 2024. <doh>

Typical bloody frogs. Don't trust them as far as I can throw them. FFS!!!

I bet the cases against those involved with the Nantes issue are heard well before then.

Get your hand in your pocket VT, pay the Sala balance and make sure the umbongo is fully cleared in January.

I also read somewhere that Tan has just raised another £17.5M through a new share issue. That could either be from conversion of some of his loans to equity (just a paper transaction for FFP purposes) or maybe even to generate actual cash from other interested parties to meet this obligation?

The problem for any new investor putting up money would be the past history Tan has of repeatedly doing this which then dilutes the value of their investment like Mike Isaacs found out to his displeasure. Mind you, if we get to the Prem it could be a very good investment........<laugh>.
