I just noted they've changed the wording on that Sky article from "Settlement" which would imply money to "Agreement" which doesn't. I reckon they've turned McKay big time for the upcoming Nantes court case.
That was probably always known and the plan was turn McKay rather than bankrupt him pursuing a civil action against him. I expect Tan's lawyers offered him the option and they've got a sworn affidavit and paperwork from him confirming he acted for Nantes. After their continual denials that they didn't use McKay in the Sala transaction. that would blow Nantes' case out of the water.
Interesting that WoL make up all sorts of subjects tenuously linked to a team or sport, yet have nothing to say on the ongoing Nante case. Possibly the biggest off field story going on.
It's because they're writers and not journalists. Like Ronald Dahl was a writer. They're also probably scared of it anyway in case somebody sues them. You're absolutely right and a real journalist would be all over it.
Succinct and informative. It does seem that all Tan wanted was to prove a link between McKay and Nantes. Now he'll go after his prime target. Let's continue to hope for a swift resolution. An out of court settlement for North of £15m plus costs. He won't get the £100m he's after.
WoL finally caught up. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport...s/cardiff-city-reach-agreement-agent-28591348
There’s a documentary on Nat Geographic on Monday night re the air crash and its cause etc. It’s still hard to believe one it happened and two how many years ago it was .

We've said it before, Tan is like a dog with a bone. His pursuit is consTANt. McKay has picked the wrong guy to mess with. A real combaTANt

Cardiff City are reportedly demanding Nantes pay them £104million in compensation over the death of Emiliano Sala in a plane crash in 2019. In the latest instalment of the drawn-out legal battle between the two clubs over the Argentine striker's tragic death, L'Equipe are reporting that Cardiff want damages for the relegation they subsequently suffered from the Premier League. Cardiff had agreed a £15m deal to sign Sala from the French club but the single-piston engine Piper Malibu aircraft transporting Sala to Wales crashed off Alderney in the Channel Islands. L'Equipe say that Cardiff will present the £104m invoice before the Nantes Commercial Court on Monday, the figure based on data analysis which says they had a 54.2 per cent chance of avoiding relegation with Sala. The club enlisted the services of Analytics FC, who calculated the expected goals and points gained had Sala played for them during the second half of the season. Maurice Nussenbaum, a French legal and financial expert brought into the case by Cardiff, argues the financial loss without him - including money lost following their relegation and 'reputational damage' - at around £104m.
Wow. That's a leap. I've never been involved in commercials in football, but it is analogous to 'consequential loss' in business terms. Liquidated damages are easy to prove and readily granted in court, consequential loss rarely so. I'd be arguing there was a 45.8% they wouldn't have stayed up so would have lost nothing. Seems like a bit of posturing by Tan to negotiate a lower value out of court settlement. It's been a real saga.
