Could it be tha lambert is sared his side wille near the drop so wants to unsettle another club to try and mke i easier for his to avoid it? he did great or us, but this WTF Paul you were wirshipped at Carrow Road, would have got a heroes welcome if you had have left on decent terms. Would ahve still got a petty good one without this, but now.... maybe he has spent to much time with Fergy! Oh dear oh dear!
So according to Villa he was a free agent as he had resigned, but according to Lambert he was sacked (unfairly). You'd think they'd get their stories straight.
As much as I hate to say it colwho_pikey is probably somewhere near the mark on this. As much as I will always admire Lambert for what he achieved in his tenure here, it just goes to show the total disregard he holds our club and fans (despite his posturing in the press) and how, in particular, he can hold a grudge even though he ended up with what he wanted. I wonder how much of this is related to the Board dragging their heels on the release of Culverhouse and Karsa which undoubtedly would have affected Lamberts pre-season preparations at Villa?
No comment from villa or lambert Wouldn't surprise me if it was part of a dirty scheme involving villas financial "situation"
Well that's done it for me, I think most of us have always known that Lambert is ruthless and not a very nice person but I was gobsmacked when I first heard this news. I have to say that he is a **** of the very highest order, he should be removed from the hall of fame immediately regardless of his acheivements, **** him. The one thing that we should not do however is boo him when he comes to Carrow Road, remember how he milked it on his return to the Cuckoo Field ? What we should do is remain completely silent when he goes to sit in the dugout and everyone to a man should turn their backs on him.
That's a great point, lets remember he was in his element when he went back to Col U that time. He played the pantomime villain which allowed our players to excel. Lets just ignore his presence.
When you see him in court, Robbie Cowling said please ask the thieving git if we can have our club car back, last seen in a cloud of dust heading to the promised land.
Not surprised by all of this, if there really was this clause in the contract then Lambert has a pretty strong case if norwich actually said no, but on the otherhand its seems to suggest the norwich didn't actually refuse permission, just that they wanted to speak to him before he spoke to villa. Anyway, this will liven up the villa game!
Lambert has the backing of the League Managers Association, so I imagine there is some sort of case against us in law, whether valid or not we shall have to wait and see.
i think its disgraceful and having said i wanted him to have a great career having left us, it has made me feel differently. he got his wish, he got away and had he left it there i think given time most people would have seen him in a more positive light in years to come having achieved all he did at the club. interesting that the club should leak the news last night though - very clever to take the heat away from some of the ill feeling towards the current coach (wrongly - he's not lambert - get over it). also means people will get behind the new man. unfortunately lambert will probably win his case. this is football today. money money money - that's what its all about. no idea where the £2m has come from though. he didn't even earn close to £1m a year a norwich.
I always thought he was on a yearly rolling contract? I would say as soon as he got to the premiership he got a hefty payrise, could the 2 million be some sort of bonus that he was due for getting your club to finish in 12th and the club didn't pay it?
Must be for all the stress and trauma he suffered. Look how 'stupid' the questions were that he kept getting asked week after week, like, "Will you still be at Norwich next season?" How stressful for the poor man
I wasn't gonna cheer him, maybe applaud....but now i can defo see people booing him. 2 million is a lot of money to us not good!
i expect he would have already received a bonus payment (the players had) and no way would it have been anywhere near £2m, but fair question to ask guru. he's probably claiming for £2m, knowing full well he won't get that much, but i bet he wins his case. ridiculous really but how many managers have you ever heard lose these cases?
Mikey, the main source of hilarity is YOU. For years your animosity took the form of telling us what a **** Lambert was and that he would walk the minute a more attractive opportunity came up. Now when Lambert is claiming to be the injured party and was actually forced out, you suddenly start to applauding him. If you want to WUM, try to do it a bit more intelligently, huh?
Lambert seems incapable of leaving a club other than acrimoniously. Never really took to him as a person, but that's often the way with highly ambitious people. He certainly gave us a period of success - I would have liked to remember him fondly, but that's not going to happen now.
Thing is Supers, maybe Lambert is right here and the Club did deny him a contractual right to talk to other clubs. No-one here knows the cetail of his contract with the club so pointless to speculate. What I do agree with is that - a. There is no loyalty in football - we all know that, and b. Its all about the money Best thing to do is close the door to him and move on. Getting bitter over over PL is a waste of time and energy mate
agree. i did mention that he'll probably win the case. i have no doubt that we stopped him talking to villa initially, because as said our chairman wasn't even in the country. thing is, lambert had spent time talking to villa through his representatives before we'd given permission to talk, therefore he's been tapped up. both situations are wrong - my problem with all this is that there was simply no need for lambert to take these measures - its nothing more than point scoring as far as i'm concerned. he doesn't need the money - it didn't stop him getting his wish. plus, villa STILL haven't paid a penny for him in compensation, believing him to be a free agent because yes, that's right, he resigned. very very dirty situation which in my mind was colluded between villa and lambert's representatives beforehand. we did it to colchester and got fined. villa do it to us and we have to pay? that makes no sense.
