Paul Lambert said that he's 'concerned about Norwich fans only hearing one side of the story!'

He wanted to leave us and now he is saying the we dismissed him unfairly? He got what he wanted!

it is somewhat ironic that he says he's 'disappointed' with norwich city, seeing as he walked out and left everyone else disappointed. not sure i can have much sympathy with him over that.

naturally, this is not on the same scale, but when lambert left i said his successor will have issues, much like when ferguson finally leaves man united. his successor will have to perform miracles to keep the natives happy. hughton, on a smaller scale, has to do likewise in the eyes of some <ok>

The thing that worries me is that I am totally convinced that Chris is the right man to take us forward, I am also convinced that he's a proud and honest man! I hope and pray that the doom-mongers amongst our fans don't force him to resign because he feels he's let us down!

Those of you who wish him gone, who would you recommend in his stead? Colin????

Re. Cruyff's pertinent post (above), in one of his first interviews after taking over at Villa, Lambert said that Norwich refused him permission to speak to Villa "on a technicality", hence prompting his resignation. Sounds as if this "technicality" may well be the crux of it and it will boil down to whether it was indeed a "technicality" or something contractual. Anyway, we've got more important things to discuss -- like football! <ok>

I have read this entire thread and feel that you are all missing the point. This is nothing to do with loyalty, money in the game or the character of an ex- employee it is to do with Employment Law and whether we like it or not Football Clubs in general and NCFC in particular are not above the Law. Leaks seem to suggest that the only reason Lambert stuck to a 1 year rolling contract was because it contained a clause giving him the automatic right to talk to a bigger club if City were approached for his services. If, and I repeat IF, that is the case then there was a breach of contract if he was refused permission to speak to Villa. It is irrelevent whether City wanted time to get our Chairman back first - permission should have been granted.
When Lambert left Colchester he had no such contact wording so was unable to plead breach of contract or constructive dismissal and, of course, we were forced to pay compensation to Colchester. In this case City are pursuing Villa for compensation and they are refusing to pay because Lambert was a free agent having resigned or been constructively dismissed. Obviously some legal bod, probably at the LMA, has pointed out that if it is the latter then Lambert is entitled to compensation. All Lambert is doing therefore is what any of us would do if legal action had been raised against us and we felt we were not at fault - raise a counter claim. What is more interesting is that if ( and I repeat IF ) Villa and Lambert win we will have to pay compensation and legal costs instead of getting £2m in compensation ourselves had we immediately agreed to the approach of Villa. Where would that leave the position of the person who made the decision to withold consent? Another vacancy at Carrow Road?
None of us know the exact facts and surely have to await the outcome of the process before apportioning blame and hurling insults at individuals.

Presumably you have a copy of his contract to state this?

We don't know the exact ins and outs of it, the thing is would a court deem 3 hours notice enough? I don't know but it'll come out in the wash.

I don't believe McNally dropped the ball here I'd find that staggering but we'll find out soon enough

This is all carp if he was refused permission how did he do the deal and leave ?

It's all about the Yanks at villa trying to negate some of the compo to us cause they r a screwed up little club with no money

The technicality was most likely whether Villa is a step up from us or not. He probably had a clause stating he could talk to bigger clubs but both sides disagreed whether Villa is actually a step up right now. Reminds be a lot of Coyle moving to Bolton. Although that one was even more daft, there's nothing between Burnley and Bolton in terms of size or prospects. From a neutral perspective you could kind of understand Lambert deciding to switch clubs. Hardly anyone from Norwich really cares about him leaving anymore, it's not the point. We're extremely pissed off because we're probably the poorest club in the PL, we backed him and gave him everything he wanted here to progress his career and he's trying to get 2 million out of us the cu*t!

Lamberts of a piece of **** let's forget about the little bastard. Remove him from the history books he has zero respect for this club and playing the fans card isn't helping him the gutter dwelling prick. If he wins the court case I hope he buys himself a suit as you can't always look like 15 year old chav Paul and more importantly acting lessons to compensate for his dull personality.

I was hoping to forget the summer and get on with our season. I hope this situation acts a positive and galvanises our club.

Wycombe fan in peace. Sadly, this does not surprise me at all. Lambert is a souless, aloof money grabber with no idea of loyalty. He obviously tried to fob you lot off with fake declarations of regret about leaving when all the time he was plotting this. Better off without him. Funnily enough, I reckon Villa will be too come Xmas! Good luck with the rest of your season - us little teams are rooting for you :)

Bang on the money mate <ok> This has to be the best news Crissy Hootun has had in a while and hopefully this will finally make those fans still hankering after the return of the 'messiah' to fnially move on and get behind him 100%, galvanising the club as you say.

Three points tomorrow wouldn't do him too much harm either <cheers>

shame.

that's the word that i keep using.

its a shame that its come to this, after all he did for the club, not to mention all we did for him remember.
it didn't have to end like this, but this is what lambert does, and that for me is the biggest shame of all.

He couldn't have done it without us.......his words not mine!!!

A complete arsehole, glad he's gone!

1950, the fact is he is suing a club which hugely contributed to his career, gave him a great reputation and as well as that showed faith in him, both the fans and the board.

To sue a club for for ultimately getting what you wanted, but being delayed by three hours is disgraceful. We may have "breached" the contract but the thing that pisses me off is the fact the outcome was to his favour anyway. It couldn't have worked out better for him, HE HAS GOT WHAT HE WANTED and become Villa manager. What's the ****ing problem with him?
