Arsenal 0-2 Ostersunds FK (3-2 agg)

No, you are reading this correctly............

Jan Aage Fjortoft‏ @JanAageFjortoft

Arsenal 2-0 down vs Östersund. AT HOME. Is this a joke?

A Spanish police officer has been killed during fights between 'fans' of Athletic Bilbao and Spartak Moscow. RIP <rose>

World Cup in Russia anyone?

So the EL last 16 draw has been done.

1. Lazio (ITA) v Dynamo Kyiv (UKR)
Leipzig (GER) v Zenit (RUS)
Dortmund (GER) v Salzburg (AUT)

should be good games.

2. Madrid and Lyon look they are safe
for the QFs.

3. And the Goons have a date at the
home of Don Pericolo.

Terrible. He was only 31. Found dead in his hotel room before an away game against Udinese.
Very little detail at the moment, understandably.

Apparently it was a very sudden onset of a severe illness. Shocking.
According to the Udine prosecutor it was a cardiac arrest by natural causes.

Given how closely monitored footballers are these days, it's a genuine shock that this wasn't detected. It's one thing for a sixteen year old in a (picks country out of a hat) Senegalese youth team to keel over from an undetected cardiac problem, quite another for a full international from one of Europe's top leagues.

Not really.

1. I doubt that footballers are regularly put under cardiac
stress tests with a full-scale medical equipment hook-up
that can detect all potential nasty conditions.

2. This could have been a "black swan" event that
would not necessarily have been detectable.

33 year old Ronaldo with his 15th goal in 9 games.
He could have been some player if he'd applied himself.

He and Real have looked good. PSG have been incredibly disappointing. Okay, they've not had Neymar but there's still an enormously expensive and talented group of players at that club and it's looked very poor. So poor, that it makes you wonder whether it's made Real look artificially good.

Verratti should be ashamed of himself, getting sent off like that.

As I mentioned a while back, PSG's defence is significantly weaker than last season's

Last season their back four was Aurier-Marquinhos-Silva-Digne
This season their back four has been Meunier-Marquinhos-Kimpembe-Berchiche, with Alves and Silva rotated in for games such as this evening

While they can get away with that in Ligue 1, given their forward line usually batters the opponents into submission so their defence isn't likely to get exposed, in the Champions League it's far more likely to be an issue.

PSG will probably want Aurier back. Alves has been shown up as too slow and like the rest of his team today dribbled into trouble all the time as they continually gave the ball away.DiMaria's corners were awful like his performance.
Maybe I'm too cruel.If Real had a plan.....it worked!
