I never really understood that when Rangers was reconstituted after their "money troubles" that the new club still claims all the previous silverware that the old one did. After all, if they are responsible for the silverware they should surely be responsible for the debts!
The problem was the Scottish league had precedent for clubs magically reappearing in the place of another without having to worry about the debts, with the utterly farcical situation of a consortium picking up the husk of Airdrieonians after the club was liquidated, making a deal with Clydebank's administrators to buy the assets, then just move them all down the M8 - yet even though everything about the club was a continuation of Clydebank, everyone acts as if it's Airdrieonians because they use the same stadium and kit.
Here's one for future pub quizzes: Legia Warsaw won the Polish league without even finishing their fixture, as Lech Poznan fans kicking off led to the match being abandoned in the 77th minute with Legia leading 2-0, so Legia were awarded a 3-0 walkover to clinch the title.
Bayern Munich unexpectedly lost their DFB-Pokal final against Eintracht Frankfurt on the weekend. They've also announced that the manager of Frankfurt, former Bayern player Niko Kovac, will take over at the Allianz Arena next season. That leaves a space at Frankfurt, of course. Who have they replaced Kovac with? None other than Adolf H... Hutter. Sorry, I had to check that one.
So much for the talk of Luis Andre de Pinha Cabral e Villas-Boas taking over at Dortmund... This does mean that Nice are currently without a manager, so my suggestion of tackling Seri's agent to the ground and stuffing tenners in his mouth to speed up negotiations is still an option...
Reminds me of a bit of Dave Gorman's work, when he convinces a boke who worked for him to consider calling a child Adele........the bloke's surname was Fiddler [must be one of Sid's relatives.] just imagine...........Adele Fiddler. That should be fine, just fine.
