What kind of ****show of a country can't figure out their election results within 24hrs.

The American voting system seems to be designed to create confusion and slow.

Also it seems odd to me that voters have to queue to vote and not just queue but be inline for hours (some almost half a day)

Trump looks more of a crook than politician, another four years in the White House is going to be a disaster for US and the world at large.

Trumps' a total ****, but Bidens not the answer. He's a corporate yes man who promises 'no fundamental change', the reason the US is the worlds
largest penal colony and the man who refuses the population Medicare for all while his campaign is funded by the health insurance corporations.

The US population don't have a 'choice', the oligarchs won this election a long time ago

Biden comes across as a senile old man, easily manipulated by big business who effectively run the USA.

There is no doubt whatsoever he is declining cognitively, another reason he should be nowhere near a Presidential campaign.

biden was never right. all the memes of him and Obama show the old codger was a liability.

the facts are that a senile old codger like Reagan did just fine so biden will do his 4 if he lives through the night and it'll be a very quiet and dull time

I still don’t understand how in 2020 you can’t vote online. Want to get instant results? Allow people to log onto a voting app cast their vote from their sofa and be done with it.

There are enough opportunities for voting fraud as it is without introducing another.
It'd probably be the electoral version of VAR - seems a good idea until you actually try it.

I know technology is suspect to it but cmon must be a way some huge company could make a secure way of doing it.

Cmon it’s 2020 everything is done online these days, if you want young people to be engaged in politics you need to get on their level.

I know it’s not an issue here as much but you’ve got Americans who are blockading polling stations, all this stuff around late votes... make it online and you can get results instantly.

I’ve said this in the past. We have the Govt gateway system that requires a PIN number they send and it feels like an extremely secure system that you could also use for voting, BUT, someone would find a way,of cracking it if there was the future of a country resting on it, and the lack of audit opportunities with an on line system makes it unlikely we’ll see it anytime soon imo.

Doesn't make it a good thing.
Sorry, but if people don't have sufficient interest in their country to use their vote then they don't deserve one.
Why would "young people" need to be pandered to in order to understand and carry out their responsibilities? It's all our futures that we vote for, and if you've got a longer one ahead of you that should be sufficient motivation. It's not that bloody difficult to get off your arse and involve yourself in something that important once every four years.
The problem isn't giving people a means to vote, it's giving them a reason to.

    nah mate.

    that stuff is utterly irrelevant.

they cant control trump and thats why he's a liability. he ended up firing anyone 10% competent and hiring dolly birds.

a clean House with some old school career policticios will mean a nice quiet 4 years of noses in the trough and peace for us all.

Just feel that given how much is done online these days, and high secure stuff like accessing bank accounts etc that there should be a way that you can have a secure way to vote online. Yes there might be ways that someone could hack it etc but at the moment you’re relying on people to count and human error always comes into it then. Lost votes, miscounted, who knows if the votes that actually go in are all counted.

Tech companies should be able to create something

If you want higher voter turnout you need to ‘get with the times’. Just because things have always been done that way doesn’t mean should continue.

So do you agree with trump that people should forget about Covid and get out into packed places to vote in person then? Have to deal with armed rival supporters intimidating people in the streets?

This is very true, but by the same token not everything new and shiny is an improvement.
Things need to be assessed according to their individual merits so you'd have to look into the practicality of establishing some sort of secure e-voting system. Perhaps people already are.
I still maintain that it's voter apathy or a sense of disenfranchisement that is more detrimental than the practical difficulty.
As for your last paragraph, you're creating a false dichotomy - just because I've taken issue with something you've said doesn't mean I advocate the polar opposite. I believe there have been many more postal votes because of Covid -which of course means Trump can accuse them of fraud when things don't go his way.
There's also the fact that even if an e-vote was a good idea, the system would probably take years to design and implement - it's not something that can be pulled out of a hat because the virus has turned up.
Anyway, the whole US election is a bloody circus anyway, and I can't see voting methods doing anything to alter that.
