I never got the fascination for gold. The egyptians were big on it esp for their kings etc and lately seems to be high amongst asian population.

But i dont wear jewellery so maybe not best equiped to ask why <laugh>

To me it seems very chavy and no need for.

Its the fact that its currency and impervious to decay.

ts actually a relatively worthless metal to someone in ancient times due to its weight and its softness. It became currency as it was predictable and didn't corrode. Silver is similarly precious in theory but corrodes so is not as valued.

Now platinum is worth more but people ignore this as gold still has that status.

gold = wealth, gold = permanence.

however today all its rally good for is a conductor of electricity and battery making etc and then jewellery.

Definetly an improvement on high end motherboards using gold as its a good conductor.

Trump to declare emergency over Mexico border wall
US President Donald Trump is to invoke rare national emergency powers to secure funding for his planned border wall with Mexico, the White House said.

The controversial move would enable Mr Trump to bypass Congress which has refused to approve the money needed.

Senior Democrats have accused the president of a "gross abuse of power" and a "lawless act". Several Republicans have also voiced concern.

Building a border wall was a key campaign pledge of Mr Trump's campaign.

Declaring a national emergency would free Mr Trump from many of the legal constraints on executive power and give him access to billions of dollars for his project.

Democrats secretly rubbing their hands as Gun Control, Healthcare and Green Issues run through their heads...

All dangerous for the constitution of course as it will quickly lead to congress being made redundant.

Me thinks the SCOTUS despite its conservative bias will have to chuck it out this time so as not to allow a precedent with future Democrat presidents going to town on it.

Just wanted to touch base with everyone and let them know I am OK. I know you are all concerned since Trump declared a national emergency over here but I am holding on. Don't worry about me.

Here in the land "of the free". A 15 year old kid was arrested for refusing to say the pledge of allegiance in class.

Technically it was for "resisting arrest" but the whole thing spiralled out of control when he refused to say the pledge (something I refused to do for the few years of school I had in the US too).
