The Bosnia and Herzegovina goalkeeper leaves Stoke after five-and-a-half years and will challenge Thibaut Courtois for the 'keeper's role at Stamford Bridge. His departure leaves England international Jack Butland and recent signing Shay Given as the senior 'keepers at the Britannia Stadium. In a statement released on his twitter page Begovic said: "I would like to say thank you to everyone at Stoke Football Club, the chairman and Coates family, Mark Hughes and Tony Pulis, goalkeeper coach Andy Quy, all my team-mates and especially the fans who have made me and my family so welcome. "I have loved my time at Stoke, but feel I had the opportunity for me to continue to develop and challenge myself as a player. please log in to view this image Begovic: Likely to start the season as No 2 to Thibaut Courtois "I am very proud of what we have achieved during my time at Stoke, and it has been a great team of players to work with. I wish you all the best for the season ahead." Begovic has signed a four-year contract and is Chelsea's second summer signing following a loan deal for striker Radamel Falcao. He told the Chelsea website: "I am very happy to be joining Chelsea. After speaking at length to the manager, I feel like I can develop here and be an important part of this team. "I am looking forward to meeting up with the team on Wednesday for the pre-season tour." Begovic, 28, will wear the No 1 shirt vacated by Petr Cech, with Courtois remaining No 13.
Spurs have tabled an 8 million bid for Moses who allegedly doesn't want to return to the potteries. Pulis is interested in Walters at a price of 2 million, he has one year left on his contract.
I have heard from two totally separate sources that we have signed the Ukrainien , " Kmonuplonka " ( spelling ) - for 20 million euros - can anyone confirm this ? Could be Yarmelenko.
I hate to say this but the guys who told me about this were probably experiencing " wishful thinking ". It is probably nothing more than commenting on Stoke " putting in a bid " . Which we all know means absolutely nothing when it comes to a player with some quality. The Stoke hierachy persist in stringing us along with this play acting because they know it will cost them nothing as they know there is no chance of meeting such a player's wage demands. However I have a very nice humble pie in the fridge just in case I am being cynical. I WOULD LOVE TO EAT THAT PIE.
HUGHES WANTS "TOP QUALITY" Stoke City manager Mark Hughes says he wants to bring in one more top player before the start of the season. Hughes has now brought seven new players during the summer, and is still hoping for some "top quality". "We're still hopeful we can get a player of top, top quality - if we can do that we'll probably be done," he told BBC Radio Stoke. Stoke's summer signings so far include Glen Johnson, on a free transfer, and Joselu from Hannover.
Remember when we played Dinamo Kiev...Yarmalenko was the best player on the field by a country mile at what 21 years of age. Sign him up
sounds good to me, quality, quality, quality, Stoke!! You could sell sweets with a jingle like that!!
POTTERS EYE BARCA STARLET Stoke are keeping tabs on Barcelona protege Adama Traore, despite mounting interest from clubs across Europe.
