Well he contradicted himself there when he said he doesn’t leave people out when they’re in wonderful form - what about Mitchell the other week ?
We are linked again today with our favourite recent transfer target under SE7 Partners. A Loan from Ipswich Town. Not Camara or Ladapo or even Luongo this time - Ali Al Hamadi, a kid on loan up front. No thanks. I thought Nathan Jones wasn’t keen on loans anyway.
I wonder whether the club (or Andy Scott) has some sort of special relationship with Ipswich, which gives us first dibs on their duds.
Another transfer window Cue more bullsh*t from SE7, more pitiful attempts to raise a few false hopes among our more gullible fans (mostly over on ITTV), and more disappointment when the window closes and we have taken on a couple of kids, a crock, and perhaps offloaded a little dead wood. Meanwhile the promotion contending teams pull ever further away. Charlton are 7 points off 6th place right now. That's half a point for every game we've played. If I was a betting man I's stick £50 on that gap being 14 points or more by the end of January. SMT Bullsh*t and unfulfilled rumours notwithstanding.
With our record on recruitment, there is no reason for optimism about this or any window. Do we even have a scouting setup?
I don’t want us signing loans. They are short term & often desperate. We don’t create anything , until that is addressed we could have Harry Kane & Mo Salah up front …
I agree with that. But good loans have done well for us Gallagher, Rak - Sakyi. Cullen, Bielik, But we have had too many poor loans. The owners will not be paying out anymore money if we are in the same position come the transfer window.
Definitely not - if we are still in this league position on 1 Jan, the SMT will write this season off. No way will they risk asking the investors for more ££.
We need a couple of decent wingers, a ball playing No.6, and a creative No.10. We are currently miles short.
Last 10 seasons January Loans: 23/24: Ladapo, Fiorini, Bakinson 22/23: Kane, Penney, Kilkenney 21/22: Castillo, John, Burstow 20/21: Millar, Stockley, Smith 19/20: Green, Smith, Davis, McGeady 18/19: Maxwell, Purrington, Odoh 17/18: Mavididi, Zyro, Kaikai 16/17: Mavididi, Byrne, DaSilva 15/16: Williams, Poyet, Sanogo, Suk-Young, Fanni 14/15: Velkjovic
The standard is unlikely to improve either. NJ's record on improving young players is not too impressive.
