QPR will increase asking prices for star players, says Warburton By West London Sport 25/08/2021 please log in to view this image QPR’s price valuations of their star players will increase in the final stages of the transfer window, says Mark Warburton. There has been speculation that the likes of Rob Dickie and keeper Seny Dieng could attract offers from Premier League clubs. ADVERTISING But as a late departure would make it tough for Rangers to find a replacement, manager Warburton says any interested clubs should expect to pay more. He explained: “There will be a point when, towards the end of the window, the value goes up. “If a player is worth a price and someone comes in with a bid for three times that then the board would look at it because it makes financial sense. “You have a value of a player. It’s as simple as that. And the nearer you get to the end of the window the value increases appropriately.” Warburton has previously mocked reports linking Dieng with Sheffield United and centre-back Dickie with a number of top-flight sides. And he remains convinced that Rangers’ owners are determined to keep the club’s best players. “If someone comes along and wants to take a player from us then it’s going to be on QPR’s terms,” said Warburton. “You put a value on a player you know you’d need to replace, so therefore if someone wants to take them from us then they’ll have to pay. “But there’s no desire to sell any of our players. We want to keep building and the owners have shown that desire by maintaining the squad.”
A sale of any kind late in the window would show a complete lack of ambition by the owners. We finally have a good team that could challenge for promotion and a good feeling around the club. If anything we should be looking to strengthen a few areas.
Harry Kane announces that he is not leaving Spuds this summer! Bring out the flags! Oh, he wants £400k a week to grant them the joy of his presence. One of their own, indeed.
That is utter madness, no footballer should be paid that amount but idiots do pay them,oh how can I survive on 400k a week football is a short life for working & no income after! ****ing bollacks init, should be a basic salary cap
Warburton has said, according to WLS, that the value of our key players will increase as the window close approaches because of the difficulty in replacing them.
His price won't be any less at the end of the season. Keep him for a season the sell him for more than that. Win/win.
Why don't they offer a tiered performance bonus? Promoted as Champions £100K Promoted as Runners Up £75K Promoted as Playoff winners £50K Playoff Runners Up/Top 6 £40K I've made up the figures as I've no idea if the suggested amounts would prove to be a sufficient incentive. It could be funded by the increased receipts or PL payments.
That is actually a bet on the players part, he gets nothing if we don’t achieve any of those targets, possibly through no fault of his own, and sacrifices a guaranteed higher wage. The average championship wage is £4K a week. Let’s say we are paying him an outrageous £10k (I doubt it, he came from Oxford Utd). The average Premiership wage is £60k a week (both figures according to the Professional Football Scouts Association). Let’s say he was paid £40k a week by a PL team buying him because he is untried at that level, or because he has a **** agent. Your bonus system would have to make up for £30k a week, or 3 times his normal annual wage (excluding bonuses), minimum. And it’s still a punt by the player. Whatever our arguments, as fans, for keeping our better players, they are usually founded on loving the club and wanting it to do well. Which is why we are fans. We tend to strategically forget the finances of the club and also the real best financial interests of the players. Also that our business model is to develop players, either through the youth system or through clever purchases, and sell them for profit, because the turnover of the club isn’t enough to keep it in the black otherwise. Sorry for the tedious dose of what I think is reality. I hope I’m wrong and we just offer Dieng, Dickie, Chair etc better contracts which they happily sign.
WLS think Gray is coming in on loan. He's 30 years old and rumoured to be on £70 K a week. I can't believe he'll be getting anything like that from us, but having also brought in Austin and Johansen I reckon our business model for this season also includes a really decent go for Promotion. Further confirmation of that is Warburton having also said we are increasing our value of key players up to the window deadline due to the difficulty of replacing them so late. His example was increasing their values by 3 ! Certainly what I like to hear.
I'm really not sold on Gray. I fear we'll be trading one bad apple (Kane) for another in Gray. Is he really going to be happy being behind Dykes and Austin? His recent record doesn't imply he's good enough to start ahead of them. Will he block Kelman's development? Isn't he a super expensive third choice? Those are my worries anyway. BUT Warburton and Ferdinand are doing the business very well at the moment, so who am I to question them. Just have a horrible feeling about this one.
