What the **** are we playing at? £37m on someone inferior to two of our current players in that position. Got a horrible feeling Mata is out the door.
 
Pretty crazy - I can't see why Chelsea feel they need Willian.

But if you want to splash over £35m on him then by all means go ahead...
 
you must be getting rid of Mata if you are signing Willian...it's the only thing that makes sense...I really thought Rooney was going to be your one big signing.

Actually maybe you will now use Mata to get Rooney?

I fear the same, however what would be the point of replacing Mata with someone a lot worse?

It's the only thing that makes sense...to be honest yesterday morning i wrote on the spurs board that I thought Willian was using us to flush out a CL club and low and behold this happens...so it doesn't really surprise me

For what it's worth I think Mata is by far the better of the 2 players but your club have firmly set their sights on Rooney
 
Still doesnt make sense, we're going to be buying Willian so why not just keep Mata who is better instead?

All I can think is that Jose thinks Willian + Rooney is better than Mata + current strikers. Not actually sure I agree. Mata is proven as one of the best players in the league and we don't need a striker to score bags of goals given our midfield.

We should just stick £40m on Lewandowski, I'm perplexed as to why nobody would.

I can only assume the player has been sounded out and is determined to go to Bayern. Seems odd cos I think Real for instance would be better off signing him than monkey boy, would cost a fraction of the price and would bang in the goals.
 
Jose confirms Mata not going anywhere, and also pretty much confirms the Willian deal. Moses to be loaned I think.
 
The Guardian are linking us with a 40m bid for Lewandowski, hopefully Mata stays put.


Willian/Schurrle/Hazard/Mata/Oscar/De Bruyne - 6 to play in 3 positions, but what an awesome set of options

Lets not forget Mourinho had Modric/Ozil/Di Maria/Ronaldo/Callejon/Kaka last year at Real

Quality in quantity, Mourinho can charm them all.

And if we switch our attentions off Rooney, we unsettle the United applecart, Spurs are peed off and Moruinho may even get one up on Madrid by forcing Spurs to refuse to sell Bale.

Oscar can also play deeper, and we alternate formation as well. I reckon current business spells the end of Mikel, Ba and Moses really. Shame about Victor, really liked him, but it's unfair to have him behind so many.
 
Hopefully we can send him on loan, West Brom have been mooted and that would be brilliant for him. Sinclair and Moses as wide boys could be great service to Shane Long or Matej Vydra. A great season for Moses and his value soars, and he probably needs game time in a World cup year.
 
Wonder what Piazon makes of it all, he's now 8th in the pecking order at best!!

I really like Willian but difficult to get that excited about a transfer that doesn't seem required (assuming hopefully that Mata stays). Though you'd have to say he is a better option than Moses so does improve our squad/options.

Also, nice to get one over on Levy!!

Though its an expensive practical joke if the aim is to piss off Levy.
Really dont see the point in this myself, but Jose must have his reasons, we will wait and see.
 
According to Willian and his representatives, we have enquired about Willian for the last 6 transfer windows, Willian knew we always wanted him. And Champ League football swayed him
