A quick look suggests Garrido started at LM against Everton the season before last, and that's it. So good memory there Rob.

Last season Alonso played predominately at LB, plus 2 appearances at LM and 2 at CB (as the central one) in a 3-5-2. When at Sunderland and Bolton he was used exclusively at LB.

To try to manage a slow day, I bring you a FACT (in the hope that it might bring back some Colu Mike luck)

If we were to sign a left-back for £8m, that would be the 2nd most expensive fullback in Premier League history excluding the top six "big" clubs. Ryan Bertrand to Southampton is number 1 (just over £9m). Current number 2 is none other than Tyrone Mings to Bournemouth at just under £8m. Although arguably Boumsong to Newcastle for just under £8m nearly a decade ago is worth a lot more than that now. Newcastle, West Ham and Villa dominate the expensive fullbacks from then on.

That would be some statement of intent!

I think it's clear now he is very unlikely to go at any price. No-one will pay the price Hull want and Hull have obviously decided they want to keep him, so would prefer to take the hit on losing him for nothing next year. Understandable.

You may well be right.

I think it's a real shame though. He's young, and I rate him to be pretty much as good a left-back as Olsson, with the added bonus of being a winger too.

He would have been an absolutely ideal signing given our requirements IMO. Oh well.

Hull's insistence in holding on to players worth decent fees is almost surprising given how small their squad currently is, something like 14 or 15 outfield players. Presuming they need to sell to buy, you'd think you'd want to cash in soon where you can and replace with twice as many players to give a full squad capable of challenging over a full season. No matter how good your 14 players are, you aren't going to win promotion using that few players.

£6m might be a couple less than they'd like, but two £3m signings in his place would probably be more helpful, particularly when I believe at LB Robertson is preferred to Brady.

I don't think their squad is quite as low as 14 - they've just got a lot of injuries for a squad of about 20. I take your point, but I think they've obviously decided they're better off with the players and losing the money rather than a fire sale of their best assets to reinvest at risk

I agree. At the end of the day, Hull never intended to negotiate on Brady. They're playing a risky game. If you look at Wigan, Fulham, Cardiff, and others recently relegated, the odds are against Hull succeeding next season. Their right to gamble though. It's just a pity we wasted so much time trying to negotiate with a club that never intended to negotiate.

To be fair, we stated our price at the beginning, we've simply stuck to it.

Rumours are Watford made a bid for Brady, but whether that's just a scare tactic Hull is using to make us panic who knows. Tbh I don't think this player is worth this much hassle, move on.

I agree Drunky. If Watford want to pay £8m, then let them. That's a ridiculous price for a utility player who can play LM or LB. Alonso can do both of those as well as cover at CB.

There's no way Brady is worth more than/the same we sold Snodgrass for. It doesn't matter if there is a new TV deal.

Snodgrass was a consistently scoring and assisting winger who was also great at set pieces. I actually think we got mugged a little and could have sold Snoddy for as much as £10mil, Especially as QPR paid £8 mil for Fer. If Hull want any more than £5-6mil for Brady then we should have pulled out a while ago. The only place we should be considering inflated prices is up front because you have to do that to get a decent, consistent striker these days.

Don't know the player - or the tweeter!

I've been told Filip Djuricic is drawing interest from [HASHTAG]#ncfc[/HASHTAG] and Bournemouth. Both want a loan with an option to buy.

Might be some substance in this one. He is an AM and was on loan to Southampton for the final half of last season and played 9 times for them.

I also saw this from a reliable poster on the NT board last night:

"We had a Trust board meeting at Carrow Road last night and ran into David McNally on the way in. He was just back from Austria and looking very relaxed and says that "there's a lot going on". I think we'll see some action soon; the club are hardly twiddling their thumbs and its worth bearing in mind that last summer's key signing, Jerome, only arrived after the season started."

I remember Djuricic as one of those young bright prospects everyone seemed to buy on FIFA/FM, and he'd develop into a great player. Beyond that, no idea. Didn't get many chances for Southampton, but has done well in (dare I say it...) the Netherlands, and Benfica felt he was worth bringing to Portugal.

There's an old article raving about him here: http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2601...th-a-hint-of-kaka-serbian-youngster-djuricic-

The Balkan Kaka? Might even keep Carrabuh happy.

Maybe McNally is using Brady as a smoke screen. McNally likes to do business in private, Wouldn't surprise me if we end up buying the Celtic CB and/or other players who we haven't been linked to..
