I am puzzled as to how the sell-on fee money ripples thru the system.

Do Guangzhou give us a lump of money, some of which we have to
pass on to the club we bought Paulinho from etc ??

Or do the bean counters work out what part of the total each
sell-on clause party gets, and Barcelona pays those clubs direct ??
It'll be like selling a house. Money moves between lawyers and disbursements get taken out of the fee (or down-payment) before sending the rest to the selling club.

And yet you and others have been hanging on every
page as the author(s) put them up.

A Booker prize surely awaits.

I blame it all on @Roo . Every time the guy posts my heart skips a beat... only to sink when I see tweets by people with names like 'Ben Fairthorne' claiming to be members of Levy's inner circle <laugh>

There should be a 'Rooker Prize' for sustaining excitement and suspense during a transfer window as dry as a celibate holidaying in the sahara.

I'll get my coat.

EDIT: Hold on, no need. I never took it off.

Similar to what CK said, centre mid is the priority for me. We need someone to compete and cover Mousa adequately. Winksy is great but he's a completely different style of player and in the manner in which we play, we need someone to break forward, take people on and hold up the ball when needed when Mousa isn't playing. Seri was my ideal choice but I do feel Barkley could be moulded to the role under Poch's guidance. Failing that, if this Diop lad is the guy Poch believes in then I'll completely trust his judgement.

Seeing as Wimmer is likely going, a CB is also a priority and if we do indeed sign Sanchez, it's a mouth-watering signing. From someone who takes an interest in Ajax matches, this lad is the dogs' bollocks. Still has miles of room for improvement but at 21 he's already better than 75% of CBs in Europe's top leagues. His physical and athletic attributes somewhat make him a new breed of CB.

I've stated time and time again that RWB is for me OK with just Tripps and KWP, hopefully KWP eased some of the fears of those worried that Tripps hasn't got adequate cover/ competition on Sunday but if we end up signing Aurier (minus the personality traits), then we've bagged ourselves one of the best FBs in Europe for less than half the price of what we sold Walker for and he's three years younger than the £50m man.

As for LWB, I personally feel Rose has burned his bridges but if Poch feels the team hasn't been affected and there's no rift between Danny and the players/ staff then so be it, he stays. If we sell him, I'd like us to go for Sessegnon and have him compete with Davies for a couple of seasons before making the role his own. Failing that, a deal of Shaw plus cash from Utd would also suffice.

Attacking mid we're well stocked in. Alli and Eriksen are two of the best in Europe and if Son has another year like last then he'll be considered as such, too. With Lamela on the mend, plus the likes of GK and Sissoko in reserve, we're solid. Not to mention the incredible talent of Edwards and the pre-season breakout star, Anthony Georgiou, who's done his chances of potential first team minutes no harm whatsoever.

Striker situation is tricky. I'm happy to give Janssen another year but if we can line up a top second choice and recoup a good chunk of what we spent on the Dutchman then I'd take that.

Imagine if this was a "fact" page. We wouldn't even have a "page 2".

It's all a bit of fun to get us through the torture levy puts us through in every transfer window.

BTW, various reports are now saying the Sanchez deal is done, and he could fly to England as early as tonight to complete the transfer, and may well be announced tomorrow.

Hard to see a place for Barkley.

Tomorrow ??

The boy would have played the first CL group game
before the Spurs OS announce it.

"Various reports"...

I.e. the characters populating Roo's imagination.

The independent and evening standard. Could well be bullshit, but it's not like we've not mentioned what they've been reporting yet this summer.

Thought I'd relieve a bit of pressure on @Roo with regards to nitty bitty transfer stuff:

Ajax have officially confirmed Sanchez won't play tonight.

Overmars has spoken to a journalist and said Ajax wanted Sanchez to play (Keizer also said this).
Confirmed only one club interested in him.
Sanchez's agent has reportedly flown back to Colombia (presuming deal now wrapped up) according to a Dutch commentator.

RWAEB I think we urgently need to strengthen CM. With Dembele's injury problems starting to creep up on him and Dier as you say already on the pitch, that effectively leaves Winks as our only cover for 2 spots. Signing a better CB than Wimmer or CCV will go some way towards solving this as it will free up Dier to be rotated more and used in DM without severely weakening the team or needing us to go to 4 at the back (which was the cause of our lethargic display against Newcastle).

I personally don't think AM needs strengthening, unless Sissoko and GKN leave. Son is excellent back-up, and I gather from your calculations that you - like many of us - are forgetting that Lamela exists. Him and Son as back up for Eriksen and Alli with Sissoko, GKN and Edwards filling in the gaps is more than enough imo.

Up front is a dilemma as it will cost a fortune to sign proper back up for Kane and pay them enough wages to sit happily on the bench most games. I now see it as less of a risk to give Janssen another go and hope he improves on last season. Drastically.

I can't see us bringing in any full backs at this stage. Rose will leave next summer and maybe just maybe KWP is the real deal.
You can talk me into the idea we need a CM, but not that we don't need another AM. The key to the season will be goals, I think. One more top class AM and we'd have all of them jostling for playing time instead of dragging through two games a week stretches. I hope. Someone in any way resembling Eriksen would be an extra plus.
