I've heard similar: - Sanchez trained with the first team but did NOT travel with the match day squad. - When asked why he wasn't staying in the team hotel, Ajax officials refused to comment. - The Telegraph are reporting that WBA have bid £15m for Kev (we should bite their hands off. That's a 200% profit for a guy who sadly seems to have lost his mojo) - And City have had an £18m bid for Jonny Evans rejected, but remain 'firmly interested'. The puzzle pieces certainly fit. So knowing Spurs the following will happen: - City will sign Sanchez for £15m - Wimmer will move to WBA for £5m - We'll sign Jonny Evans for £36m plus add-ons. - Sissoko will sign a new and improved 10-year contract.
Was just about to comment on the Wimmer hack talk, It would suggest that there is a CB incoming, but who that is : God knows. That aside, IMHO Wimmer has been hard done by. Unless there is a mathematical proof that he is Fazio-esque in any back three combo, I fail to see why he has fallen from favour after his 2015-16 stint at CB.
This As you say there may be more to his virtual 'disappearance' from consid ration in recent months after such a promising beginning. However, from outside he looks to have got on with his job, not caused a fuss and appears to be a really popular member of the squad. Oh well.......
Its a real fall from grace from big Kev and its a real shame. He was excellent in his first season. He needs a run of games to get up to speed and cant seem to come in cold. He also seems to be a bit on the heavy side which probably wont help him. By all accounts he is a very popular character in our squad but he needs and deserves first team football. £15m will be a great bit of business by us.
But £18m for ****ing Jonny Evans!!!! And to Citeh!!! FFS!! The world has gone completely ****ing bonkers.
No doubt some hack will spin that into saying we didn't want to help Southampton strengthen Liverpool by giving them a reason to sell them Van Dijkhead. Note the timestamp on this comment...
"Supposedly". I think that was just the usual lazy join the dots journalism whereby the media wants Van Dick to go to Liverpool, QED Soton are in the market for a CB and QED that'll be Wimmer as he wants regular football. 2 months later and Soton are still standing firm, Van Dick is still being a dick but meanwhile Tony Pulis has said on multiple occasions that he is desperate for 3-4 players. If we need to shift Kev to offset some of the Sanchez fee, so be it. He has looked well off the pace for some time now and although he is indeed a very popular member of the squad who seems to be a nice guy, Sanchez has the pace and athleticism to be a real succes in a high press back 3.
Paulinho showing what €40 Million buys you in this market! http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...-Nou-Camp-Brazil-La-Liga-Transfer-News-Gossip Didn't go welll - but we could have told them that!!
The reports in Holland are now apparently suggesting that Sanchez not playing is because he's pissed off about Ajax not accepting our offer.
Yeah feel bad for big Kev. Had a great debut season when he stepped in and was then giving minimal time last season, granted he didn't look sharp but a player won't look too great when playing once a month. If he does seal the WBA move, wish him all the very best.
It's August 17th, and the biggest piece of business has been receiving a 4 million pound sell-on fee. Who would have guessed that would happen? Aside from pretty much everybody? The way I look at it, what matters is having a squad deep enough to try to win all our competitions. In a nutshell, I'd be shocked if we did. We need at a minimum: 1. Another good CB. Wimmer isn't happy, and he hasn't pleased Pochettino, though I agree he's been a good squad player. CCV showed he wasn't ready. So that leaves Dier for backup, who is always on the field already. Unless you count Davies, who is also always on the field already. 2. A LB. With Rose hurt and iffy at best when he gets healthy, we have Davies. Unlike RB, where we arguably have two good options (KWP and Dier), our backup is a 20 year old playing on the wrong side, who was already on the field vs. Newcastle. We might also ask our star CB, now 30 and already somewhat injury prone, to start racing up and down the flank, but I doubt we'll be stupid enough to do that--and that he'd agree. 3. A RB. 4. Another attacking midfielder. Things aren't quite so bad here, but we've got four counting N'Koudou, and I'm not sure Pochettino wants to give him much playing time. I'm not as concerned about striker, where we've looked decent playing an extra midfielder. But if Janssen wants out, we certainly need somebody. There are at least a few promising academy options for both AM and striker, including Stirling, Harrison and Edwards. The only spots we don't definitely look too thin in are CM, where we have Wanyama, Dembele, half of Dier and Winks for two spots. So that should be where we make a signing.
Forget £200m for Neymar. Forget £40m for Paulinho. Even forget £20m for Jonny Evans. Arsenal are getting £10m for Gabriel. That's £10m FOR GABRIEL! I wouldn't use him to wipe my arse.
RWAEB I think we urgently need to strengthen CM. With Dembele's injury problems starting to creep up on him and Dier as you say already on the pitch, that effectively leaves Winks as our only cover for 2 spots. Signing a better CB than Wimmer or CCV will go some way towards solving this as it will free up Dier to be rotated more and used in DM without severely weakening the team or needing us to go to 4 at the back (which was the cause of our lethargic display against Newcastle). I personally don't think AM needs strengthening, unless Sissoko and GKN leave. Son is excellent back-up, and I gather from your calculations that you - like many of us - are forgetting that Lamela exists. Him and Son as back up for Eriksen and Alli with Sissoko, GKN and Edwards filling in the gaps is more than enough imo. Up front is a dilemma as it will cost a fortune to sign proper back up for Kane and pay them enough wages to sit happily on the bench most games. I now see it as less of a risk to give Janssen another go and hope he improves on last season. Drastically. I can't see us bringing in any full backs at this stage. Rose will leave next summer and maybe just maybe KWP is the real deal.
101greatgoals are saying Paulinho's fee is a gangbang of sell-on clauses, with Corinthians, Club Atletico Juventus, Bragantino, Audax, Lodzki Klub and Vilnius receiving £300k each, as somehow six clubs managed to get bundled into one 5% share of the sell-on fee. Something tells me they forgot to account for another £3.6m of that fee...
There's no way for Barca to come out of this one looking good: Guangzhou got a cut, Spurs obviously got a cut, six other clubs got a cut, and no doubt KGM Sports got a cut almost as big as Guangzhou's. To be honest they look like one of those people moaning that they lost all their money to an obvious phishing scam, and they can't understand why nobody has much sympathy for them.
I am puzzled as to how the sell-on fee money ripples thru the system. Do Guangzhou give us a lump of money, some of which we have to pass on to the club we bought Paulinho from etc ?? Or do the bean counters work out what part of the total each sell-on clause party gets, and Barcelona pays those clubs direct ??
