The latest rumours on that site.... http://www.football-rumours.co.uk/bristol-rovers-rumours.php * Anthony Sweeney will be unveiled as player/coach on a 2 year deal from Hartlepool. * Prolific Salisbury City striker Jamie White will also join the pirates on a 2 year deal. * Rovers have also agreed a deal to bring Matty Taylor (Forest Green and England C) to The Memorial Stadium after a fee was agreed by the 2 clubs. * Ex-pirate Joe Anyinsah also looks set to re-join Rovers on a 1 year contract from Wrexham.
No, No, No Don't want Anyinsah anywhere near us. All I can say at least that rumour site can't be trusted.
i take it you dont want to see this again?? http://images.football.co.uk/245x318/player/joe_anyinsah/109467.jpg
i got his shirt that he wore at crewe in the play offs in 1995. we drew 0-0 the 1st leg and drew 1-1 in the 2nd leg - miller scored our goal i think. we obviously went through on away goals to face huddersfield at wembley. after the 1-1 game at crewe our travelling fans got on the pitch. the players soon after were up in the home stand looking down at us applauding us while we were singing at them. the players then threw their shirts into the crowd on the pitch and i got worrells shirt. i wore it at wembley - pretty big on me mind as i was just 12 at the time.
I'd never heard of Worrell Sterling! I had to look him up on Wikipedia and found out that he'd played for Rovers 119 times! That's bonkers and proves to me how much we take the internet, social and electronic media for granted. From 1992 to 1996 I worked at EuroDisney and only came back to Bristol three times and only saw the Gas twice in those years - each time must have been when Worrell was injured! These days you can find out anything about the club, instantly from anywhere in the world.
Anyinsah was decent, and he's a local lad with lots of experience. He got some important goals for us and in my opinion we did not replace him with anyone better...
another rumour on that site..... Cheltenham are set to sign Bristol Rovers goalkeeper Steve Mildenhall.
Anyinsah was one of those players who was too inconsistent and you never knew what attitude would turn up. Irrespective of whether he was a local boy or not he was known to frustrate managers by not carrying out instructions. Earlier in his career he seemed more focused but you just have to look at his history (1 Season) since he left. Played for Wrexham and only managed 25 games for them spending most of his time on the treatment table...sounds familiar! Can understand why Ward was frustrated by him.
latest rumour from that site..... * York City manager Nigel Worthington is considering a move for Bristol Rovers right-back Michael Smith. Smith is reported to be wanting out due to relegation, and a mix of his outstanding form this season (gained a place in the league 2 team of the year) and his Northern Irish roots Worthington sees him as a worthy replacement for the departed Lanre Oyebanjo. what a load of crap
