But how big is a cup? If you don't have one of those measuring cups do you use the Liverpool FC mug? Or the Mrs' massive pink mug with hearts on? Or a tea cup? They're all different sizes and when you're reading a recipe with cup measurements without the proper measuring apparatus then you will end up baking a soggy or dry cake. [HASHTAG]#realproblems[/HASHTAG]Depends can be easier. If it's just a cup of this a cup of that. Half a cup of this. Makes it easier as you don't need scales or measuring jug. Problem comes if you then need to add other things like 4 eggs.. as that'll have an impact on how big your cup is.

FFS. Just as bad.We have a cupboard full of cups, half cups, third cups, quarter cup measuring cups.
A cup is 8oz. (Have to remember a bunch of silly conversion factors)

Yeah but then the other ingredients that aren't measured in cups will be out of proportion.Makes no difference. If you need 600gs flour and 300 gram sugar. You use 1 cup for flour and half cup for sugar.
