Don't agree with that - Rodgers has pretty much always gone for a physical target man bar 13/14 where he gave Suarez the license to do what he wants. He wanted Dempsey when he first arrived but ended up with Suarez (who was already here) and Sturridge who the committee sanctioned. Last year, he wanted Bony and he bigged up Mario before he signed. It certainly fits into this way of thinking which is 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 and playing with a lone striker.
After the success of 13/14, he was quick to go back to 4-2-3-1 and play Studge as a lone striker.
Also, don't want to get into the whole 'committee signing' or 'Rodgers signing' - just going off what local reporters said and both Times and Echo have said Rodgers is the one who wants Benteke.

The focal point was definitely the wide players Dyer and Sinclair.
Rodgers immediately tried the same on his arrival here with Borini and Downing [HASHTAG]#EpicDuo[/HASHTAG]
Maybe he will try the same again with Firmino and Sterling/Pedro/Ibe/ResignDowning.

I saw that and posted in stelring discussions. both are good areas.
Berahino didn't stick in england squad is is quite lucky thatpulis decided he needed him. As it stands it looks like nobody wanted him that much at20mil and we seem to be seeing clubs steer clear.
Berahino would want to knuckle down uner pulis and show what he is good for.
Seriously though, I can't see a thread called The Sterling Discussions or whatever is the correct spelling of it .... it just isn't there ... you all having me on ??

Not heard much more about the Illarramendi transfer since we apparently put in a £16m bid.
Seems like we want a new midfielder for circa £15m and then a forward for £25m
That would be £40m - about same as the Sterling transfer when you take his 35k wages and the two new guys 100k wages into consideration.

25mil forwards are hard to get. if lacazette is only 25mil i'll go mad... a little... that is cheap as chips these days
I'd be more than happy if we got Lacazette as long as we didn't turn him into Cisse who was top striker in Ligue 1 when we bought him.

thats why i think they need a big target man aside from felliani. they need a guy who will run in behind too so rooney can play off him.
I know its early july but they have some work to do.
