I know we differ on Lucas but selling would be nuts he's 27 has experience, loves the club and is a good player, how good we would disagree on but the last thing we want is an injured DM and no cover.
Quite a few when you really think about it.
What the hell is he then?not a natural defender, certainly not the complete midfielder, nor an attacking one... where does he fit in our team if he can't be a DM?
In a 2 man midfielder, he will be a box to box midfielder alongside a DM. In the long run, he is starting ahead of Henderson.
In a 3 man mid, I would play he and Kova/Coutinho ahead of the DM.

I agree with Jimmy on this, he is a bit slow over a short distance and I don't think the role suits him, I would have him a a box to box midfielder and get a DM in.

Experience of what - not winning things? Excelling in poor teams? Giving away cheap free kicks?
Won't get into this again as we both know how we feel but Lucas is nowhere near the class of Mascherano or Hamman, so I don't see why we must settle.
Yep, Can is fast over long distances but acceleration is crucial in the DM role.
I think with the right coaching, Can can play the role but I rather use him as a box to box because he's perfect for it, then bring in a dedicated/natural DM.
Personally, I would bring in a RCB which would not only improve our defence but allows Can to move into midfield thus improving 2 areas with 1 signing.

Agree and in an ideal world we'd have someone like biscuits at barca or matic.
But rosgers doesn't like the natural dm and we have to deal with that and get on with it.
Its all all about balance Milner does offset decent defensive protection from cm so as long as we aren't gung go with.all 4 midfielders piling forward, and always have 1 back then it's fine.
I think it's more a tactical thing to resolve than personnel thing
I agree we won't get into it as it'll get circular, what I mean is get Illarramendi in and Lucas stays as cover for injuries as if the Illarrmendi gets injured we're screwed.
This. Buy to improve on Lucas, not replace him completely.
I'd get Song in personally for £5m and look to spend big in other areas.
Dear me, if we want bore draws then that should do it. In no situation above is Coutinho employed as CAM in his best role. Are we saying Can can't really fill the hole Lucas is leaving behind?
I'm thinking a front 3 though so...........

Sky sources saying weve held talks with Firmino, Bacca and rondon. Never seen rondon so can't comment.

Firmino isn't a striker. One of Ings or Origi could go out on loan. Still need to sell Borini, Lambert and Balotelli too though
From what I've seen he does play up top a lot but can drop in as an attacking midfielder.

No I think it's, holding talks but only sign one, talk to all 3 and then if one falls through already have backup sorted... Unlike before where Sanchez said no and we were left panicking and ended up with balotelli.

I really would like to see Origi stay.
Bacca is a good player but £20m for a player who will turn 29 soon is not good business. We should be signing these players a lot sooner and younger. Sevilla paid 4m EUR for him - that's the way to do business.
But he is far better than Benteke and Rondon.
Firmino would be the marquee for me. Quality player.
