I spoke to my French colleague who follows football a lot (Marseille season ticket holder). Apparently he was realy good at Lille, very fast and very decent at crossing. He's suffered from being a substitute at PSG though. But he's still only 21. My colleague reckoned that for the prices being quoted (aounr 10 million), it should be a great investment.

So that all sounds positive. Could be another Coutinho/Sturridge-type situation - decent player not getting the chances at a big club that comes to us and can bloom.

Or he may flop completely.

To be fair to the defence, they're not protected at all. But Skrtel is someone who loves to play deep and the whole line drops deeper and deeper because he has no concept of teamwork. This then drags the rest of the defence further back.

There was a point when Lovren was screaming at the line to push forward and Skrtel just ignored him. Selfish defender.

Actually on your side for this. Skrtel has a set of particular skills (cue taken speech) but his weaknesses are so annoying. Dropping back and not tackling piss me off no end and allows teams so much room to play in or advance into to allow a shot at goal from just outside the area.

Hes a decent player, but can easily be improved on. Shame didn't cash in for £20m couple years ago

Ironically at a time when I seemed to be his only critic <laugh>
 
So we are signing 100 more defenders how are they all going to play? Wisdom and Illori are back then Sakho,Skrtel,Toure and Lovern are already established lads with first choice defender Flanno injured. We have then gone on to target Clyne,Digne and this Charlton kid as targets. Where do you fit all these players!!!

But maybe we will play 191 and [HASHTAG]#giveittoINGS[/HASHTAG] .

Sell Skrtel and Lovren, and we shouldn't have renewed Toure's contract.

Ilori and Wisdom are very good back ups/squad players.

You missed Coates <ok>
 
Coates is off - £3.5 - 4m.

Which is a shame because he's talented but he needs to be a team which plays a deep line. Playing under Advocaat is ideal.
 
So its not been announced...? I'll stand my comment then, Lamborini missed Coates from the list :)

Well, I was going to point out that Flanno shouldn't be on that list since you were focusing on CBs. If you're talking all defenders then you missed Enrique and Moreno too <laugh>

You called Lovren established...

Our defense must enter a transition period now. We need to find a parter for Sakho, as well as long term replacement for Skrtel and Toure.

Wisdom and Ilori deserve to have the opportunity to claim those roles first. But if they struggle we will need Skrtel and Toure to play until they are ready or we can sign some one else (January or next summer).

We have wasted to much money on defenders to sign another this summer. We mst give Iloi and Wisdom a chance first.

In 2 years: Ilori, Sakho, Wisdom, Gomez? Its a list of question marks right now but lets give them a chance.
